Chance me for U of I Chicago. Am I safe?

I am an English major about to transfer from a community college in Illinois to UIC in the fall. My dream is to earn my BA in English, then move on to get my Master's in Library Science (perhaps at UIUC). I have submitted my application in early March and it is still pending, so I'm getting nervous.

Right now, I am on track to earn 48 credits with a 3.7 GPA once the spring semester is over. I did not submit my ACT scores, but I did include my dismal 3.0 (weighted) GPA from high school.

I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa and I am the Editor-in-Chief of my college's student newspaper. I also participate on the editorial board for my school's creative arts magazine. I have recently joined the Progressive Student Union, a politically-charged activist group at my college that plans on hosting fundraisers and doing volunteer work. I have also done volunteer work at my local animal shelter.

The only problem is I have not finished all my gen eds. I am taking logic in lieu of actual math (because naturally it is not my strong suit in the least) and I will be taking my natural sciences classes, like biology, over the summer. Will this greatly undermine the rest of my stats? I mean, these classes are not essential to my major, and it's really important to me I am accepted this year. UIC is my dream school right now.

Thanks all.

I don’t know how much weight will UIC give to the high school grades if you have 48 CC credits under the belt.

Is UIUC too expensive for you? I could have sworn that in-state transfers for UIUC isn’t that hard.

UIUC would have been a match for me I realize, but I wanted to experience city life in Chicago. UIC is supposedly the easier school to get into too, but I’m still pretty frazzled about this whole college admissions thing.
