<p>I took the highest level english classes, all honors math classes, highest german classes, highest history classes, and okay science classes (physical science, biology, physics, chemistry, and microbiology/genetics)</p>

<p>You should be able to get in. Not a slam dunk. If kids with 3.7 GPA at your high school usually get in, you will probably get in.</p>

<p>Match. Courseload and IS and ECs will push you in. Definitely talk about ECs in essays.</p>

<p>^its all on the essay itself. If you think a ‘topic of your choice’ can be better than their choice, then go for it.</p>

<p>You took challenging courses, have a solid GPA (assuming 3.7 is unweighed) and, should you improve your ACT to a 30+, Michigan becomes a match. Apply EA.</p>

<p>Get the ACT over 31ish and you should be fine.</p>

<p>There is no problem with picking a topic of choice. The most important thing about the essay is it is a chance for them to see you as an individiual. Try to avoid something that is cliche.</p>
