Hi everyone :) this is my first post and i've been wondering for a while what my chances are for University of Richmond. It's my top choice and I love it there but my grades aren't that great so any information would be helpful! Feel free to be honest. Also, I have ADD so that has affected my grades with executive function issues such as handing in homework and organization :/

GRADES: as a freshman I had a 3.5 GPA at my local public school, but as a sophomore I transfered to a rigorous private prep school in NYC along with getting sick so my grades took a hit, I had a 2.7 GPA. Junior year so far is going well, I have a 3.2 about.

HONORS/AP COURSES: As a freshman I was in Biology which is a sophomore level class, honors english, and took two math courses one also a sophomore class

As a sophomore I was in junior level french and junior level math

As a junior I am in senior level french and honors math

As a senior I am planning on taking AP Bio, AP English, and AP Calc

ACT/SAT: My SAT wasn't too hot, maybe around a 1800 but I found my niche with the ACT, I scored a 31.

CLUBS: I am in only a few clubs at my school but involved very heavily in the few clubs I am in. These include the school's Dance Team, the school's student ambassador club, Amnesty International, and the Peer Tutoring program. I am also very involved in Community Service, I tutor young underprivileged children at least once a week.

if you need any other information just ask, but I don't want to make it too daunting! thanks in advance!!

also you could chance me for NYU or Cornell also, I’m a legacy at both places if that helps

I would say U or R is a high match for you
what is your cumulative GPA
You have the act scores, but GPA and/or class rank could be improved.
What is your rank?
Stay very involved in ECs, and write great essays/get good recs.
You have a decent shot
what other schools are you looking at?

i’m not sure what my cumulative GPA is, and my school doesn’t rank for reasons i’m not sure of. I have a meeting with my college guidance counselor soon though so i’m hoping to pry some info out of him. I’m also looking at Bucknell, Penn State, Northeastern, James Madison, Boston University, and some others. I want a small liberal arts school with a good business program which is a huge challenge for some reason. Anyway, thanks for your quick reply!

also, sorry for all the replies, i like vanderbilt but I feel like that’s a huge reach. could I be chanced for that also?

Vandy = huge reach, your numbers are quite a bit below theres, you would need to show something truly special.
Cornell legacy- huge reach here too- the legacy will help but cornell is super tough, I think you need more than that
NYU- reach- you wouldn’t really have a shot here w/o legacy- an outside chance with it
Bucknell-reach- there really tough/selective
Penn state- match - you have a good shot here- high acceptance rate- your scores fit in well
-only downer is your gpa- but still have good shot
Northeastern-match- fairly high acceptance- act is better than theirs-again GPA is a bit of an issue
BU-Match- similar to northeastern- but a higher rate of acceptance
JMU-Safety- your gpa is less of an issue here- your rigor of classes and ACT will set you apart- high acceptance rate-65%- you should be a lock here

Chance back?
