I’m a female from BC who is interested in going to
I don’t know how to calculate GPA, but I’ve gotten over 86% for everything in grade 10/11/12. My average is probably about 94% and I’ve taken most of the honours courses taken at my school
My highest SAT score was 2200 (broken down it was math:770, crit:730, writing:700) (I received 2060 and 2100 before that)
I have taken 4 APs so far
Chemistry (4)
Physics 1 (4)
Biology (4)
Calculus AB (5)
and I am taking 5 more this year
Physics 2
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
English Literature
Calculus BC
My ECs are mainly focused on dance, as I’ve been competitively dancing since I was about 10 at a studio. I have been a part of my school’s audition based dance team for 4 years.
I am also the vice president of 2 clubs (Physics and World Vision), the marketing director of G.A.I.N., and a senior member of my school’s Red Cross Club.
I spent my last summer volunteering as a pharmacy assistant (2-3 months) and a children’s science summer camp leader. I also volunteer in my community in senior homes and at events for the young.
Please chance me for UBC, UT, McGill, and SFU and maybe give me suggestions for other universities that I should apply for?
SAT is irrelevant for Canadian applicants. Likely to be admitted to all of them. You would have a chance at some top US schools (reach for top 10) if you can afford it.
@TomSrOfBoston thanks for your input! I was just wondering if any of my four choices would be considered a reach school or a safety, since I am planning on applying to american universities
You are likely a competitive candidate for any of those schools but what do you want to study? That decision has to be made for many programs in Canadian universities when you apply.
You’ll have no problem getting into chemistry at any of the schools. Pharmacy is not a direct admit program. You have to have at least 2 years of undergrad to apply.
@bouders thank you! I’m just worried about financial aid, since Canadian universities seem to be a lot less willing to shell out money than American universities XD
Financial aid is handled differently in Canada than in the U.S. It is based on need and is handled by the provincial governments. The B.C. student assistance program can be found at https://studentaidbc.ca/
