Ok im a senior whose looking to apply to the UCs for NYC here are my stats
SAT: 2140 CR:700 M:730 W:710 (I plan to retake December and get a 2250+ score)
SAT 2s: Took math 2 and chem, waiting for scores, expecting atleast a 770+ on both.
Senior Course Load: AP Biology, AP Calc AB, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Spanish, Regular English

Since the UCs only look at soph to junior year and in new York we only use number grades, my overall cumulative gpa from soph to junior year is a 100 - 101 weighted average, Im not sure unweighted. As for freshmen year grades they were not nearly as good, I had a huge boost in my GPA from freshmen year to sophomore year, I consider this a strength in my app.
No class ranks, go to a really competitive high school (top 40 in US)
ECs: I have 3 leadership positions (Treasurer, Captain, and Committee Leader) in 5 clubs, nothing extraordinary
Essay and Personal Statement: I think they are both really good.

I'm Chinese as well.

I know these are some vague stats, but can you provide some kind of indicator if I have a good or bad chance at getting in? Thank you!

bumpppppppppppppppp

I think you’ll be a pretty on-the-fence applicant to Berkeley and UCLA (especially with a very average/below average SAT for an Asian applicant). You look like the large majority of applicants to their university. I have no idea how your weighted number GPA will transfer to a regular GPA scale, so I can’t comment on that. I think it’ll really come down to how you can make yourself unique and someone these schools want through your essays! Good luck!

UCLA - Low Reach

Chance me back? [Chance Me ED Penn, Chicago and More](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1573209-chance-me-ed-penn-chicago-more-will-chance-back.html)

I think you have a decent shot at both. Both are high matches

Since you’re out of state, you have a higher chance than in-states, so I would say that they’re both high matches. Since affirmative action was struck down in CA, I don’t think that being Chinese is going to be against your case like wharton said above. It depends on what major you want to pursue. I have seen people with 1560’s SATs get in to UCLA, but then I realize that they’re going for gender studies and stuff like that, while people with stats much better than yours get denied for impacted majors such as Biochem. Since you have to apply for a certain part of a UC, your chances vary depending on your major. Best of luck
