My dream college is MIT to be honest ^.^

Test scores? What you have looks good. Elite schools looking for unique students.

Yeah - what are your test scores? MIT is a super reach for everyone - our school regularly has kids get accepted to HYP but rejected from MIT - we’ve actually never had an admit to MIT despite kids applying every year.

Assuming good test scores

Ucb high match
Mit high reach
Caltech low reach

Well with high test scores (2200+/32+) you are in the running academically. You also have really good ECs with impressive leadership positions and significant activities. These are still very hard schools to get into though so Id place them all as reaches.

My thread (chance please): <a href=“Chances for Vanderbilt, UNC, NYU, UF, and Duke? - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1610985-chances-for-vanderbilt-unc-nyu-uf-and-duke-p1.html</a>

My neighbor got accepted into MIT and recently she was telling me about their application. She says that MIT likes to see personality in their students and they really take into account the essays that students write. She went to a summer program at MIT and she said that when a student was talking to an admissions officer and telling the officer about their EC’s, the officer stopped them, and my neighbor said that it seemed that MIT didn’t really weigh EC’s as much, so just take that into account.

— Stats —

What’s your SAT? ( - if none, + if >2250, ~ if 2100<x<2250, - if <2100 )

Decent AP (+)

Fine rigor (+)

Varied curriculum (+)

Non-generic subjects, ITGS (~)

— ECs —

Study abroad in China is kinda stupid (~) I’ve studied in China before and there’s nothing special about it, except that they speak Chinese. Unless you got a major revelation or something there it’s best to not emphasize it.

What’s HOSA? What’s PAVA? If you’re not going to describe it, no matter how impressive it is it’s gonna be useless (-)

Cyber Security? What did you do? Whole lot of difference from pasting posters about NSA to hacking into websites and alerting webmasters about holes in the firewall. (?)

Boeing Intern (+)

Saxophone focus (? wildcard)

Non-detailed ECs (-)

Specialism in an area (+)

— Others —

I have a feeling your personality is compatible with MIT (+)
Did you learn anything special in ITGS? If you’re also interested in computing, ITGS is a huge boon as you can talk about the ethics side during your interview.
Saxophone is unique. If one of the colleges want a solid saxophone player you have a good chance.

MIT - low reach
Caltech - reach
UCB - high match

Why MIT Low Reach? I have a feeling your personality is compatible with MIT.

I’ve a feeling that MIT applications are very impressionistic. You can tell from their short-answer questions, their focus on interviews etc. The emotion factor plays a huge role.

Skyrior is right about explaining everything; however, I’m fairly sure you short-handed it here for simplicity. Your leadership roles, great internships, and awesome coursework makes you very desirable for CalTech and MIT. However, UCB will mostly be looking at grades and test scores, so without that knowledge I cannot rate you for UCB.

MIT- Match
Cal Tech- High Match
UCB- With average UCB entrance grades, match.

Also, could you please tell me how you got an internship with Boeing as a high school student? I’m a sophomore and am looking for an internship. Thanks and good luck!

Chance me?

haha how can you have your 12th grade AP scores without having been accepted to a college yet…? Confused

How can you predict yourself to score all 5s? Are you psychic?
