<> Chance Me for UC Davis! <>

Please chance me for UC Davis. Thanks for your time and input!

ACT with Writing : Composite - 29 (UC score conversion to SAT is 1954)

SAT II : Math 2 - 710 , Literature - 640

AP Classes : AP Statistics - 4
AP Calculus AB - 4
AP English Language & Composition - retake
AP English Literature & Composition (senior yr)
AP Calculus BC (senior yr)
AP Physics C (senior yr)
AP Economics (senior yr)

UC GPA (weighted) : 3.82
UC GPA (unweighted) : 3.45
Rank (weighted) : 123/571
Rank (unweighted) : 157/571
Income Bracket : 13k - 17k
State : CA
Ethnicity: Asian

ECs : Volunteer - over 250 hours
Internship - Summer 2010 (125 hours)
Internship - Fall 2010 (120 hours)

I’d say you have a good shot, but your EC’s don’t look very diversified. I’m by no means an expert, but I think they like to see a wide range of EC experiences, not a narrow one. Also, personally I wouldn’t be cool without being able to put any sports on that app.

My stats were only slightly lower than yours when I was accepted, but my EC’s were much more broad, including similar volunteer and internship hours.

Also, not that it really matters for your application (it only matters for finaid money), but are you sure your income bracket is correct? 13-17k is right above the poverty line, and ridiculously hard to get by on in CA. You’re supposed to report your PARENTS yearly income, unless you’re an emancipated minor or some other situations. Then again, you might know all this and have gone through some tough situations, I’m just making sure.

I’d say a fairly good chance. The low income bracket will definitely benefit you and your test scores are not bad at all.

@Indianjatt:
Are you certain that income bracket is tied to acceptance? I was told by family friends that work in the UC system that income bracket is applied towards federal aid, and completely separate from whether or not you get into the school.

What DOES count for acceptance is whether or not you are a first generation college student. The fact is that if someone comes from proverty, they are more likely to be 1st generation, but it does not necessarily mean he/she is 1st gen.

I am first generation. Just to confirm you guys lol.

@Shoyon well one of the non-academic factors that UC Davis considers is being EOP eligible, which I believe is associated with family income. [UC Davis: Admission Criteria](Freshman Application Tips)

I could be wrong though.

I bet the low income bracket could help, it shows that you aren’t as privileged as others and still were able to do well in high school. Sorry I can’t help you determine your chances though, I’m in the same boat as you.

Anyone think they could chance me?
