Chance me for UCB, UCLA, UCSD, USC, UCSB, UCD, and Cal Poly SLO.

UW GPA: 3.92
UC GPA: 4.25

SAT: 2100
SAT Critical Reading & Math only: 1440

Moderate ECs:
Sports
Volunteering
Some work Experience

I am white and I am not in need of financial aid.

I am applying for Chemical Engineering.

Bump

Your STATS look good. What about EC’s? UCLA/UCB/UCSB tend to be more holistic in their admissions so EC’s and essays will be more of a factor. Cal Poly SLO will also look at Freshman grades and uses a point system to determine acceptances, see link: http://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1014&context=statsp&sei-redir=1&referer=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%3Fp%3Dcal%2Bpoly%2Bslo%2Bmca%26fr%3Dipad#search=“cal%20poly%20slo%20mca”

I would say you have very good chances for all. Good Luck.

@Gumbymom Thank you…I really don’t have very many ECs other than what I listed to be honest…I have played 4 years of sports for my high school and will probably have 80-100 hours of community service by the time I apply though…and I worked for a family-friend’s company for about a year.

Are you a California resident?

You should be ok for UCSB, it’s good school for Chemical Engineering.

I think you would get into all the UCs including Cal Poly but a little edgy on UCB.

I think you could into ALL the UCs and SLO honestly. You may want to stress leadership positions tho. Were you captain of any of the sports you participated in??

@fatimakhan Captain of football team 2 years…I am actually getting a letter of rec from my football coach about leadership which may help me out with schools that take letters of rec like USC and other common apps schools I might apply to.

@aunt_bea Yes I am a California resident

Additionally I did take two subject tests but I do not know what extent they help with UC admissions.

Chemistry: 720
Math 2: 800

SLO doesn’t have chemical engineering. UCI does (and you might want to add it to your list), and also Cal Poly Pomona (if you want to add a CSU to your list).

@MLM I am doing Chemical/Materials Engineering…they are very similar. And this is not my whole list, just a few I wanted to be chanced on. I actually have both of those schools on my whole list.

Excluding some of the super reach schools that I will be trying for on the common APP, this is my whole list:

UC Berkeley
UC Santa Barbara
UCLA
UC San Diego
Cal Poly SLO
UC Davis
USC
University of Washington
Cal Poly Pomona
Washington State University
UC Irvine
CSU Long Beach
Oregon State University

If I remember correctly, Material Science Engineering at UCLA has higher acceptance rate.

I am not exactly sure how the college applications work, but can you apply for two separate majors at a certain college? Like 1st choice and 2nd choice?

@Kreig01‌: Yes, you can apply with an alternate major besides your 1st choice major. Some schools will take the alternate major in consideration and if you do not list an alternate major, often you will be accepted Undeclared. UCSB and UCSD are the two UC’s that do this often when you meet all their admission requirements but they are unable to offer you admission into your specific major (usually Engineering or CS).

@gumbymom Ok thank you for that information. I have yet to decide whether I’d rather do materials or chem engineering but I will be applying for both of them when I start doing my applications.

Have to agree with the others here. Your chances look very good for all the schools you listed!

Think you look good for all of them except UCB and UCLA. They are just getting so competitive. If you are set on going to them, maybe you should take your SAT again.
