Chance me for UCD!!!

Well you seem pretty good! Keep up the good grades and focus on your personal statement when applying for davis…and you’ll be alright!

Take help from your teachers or counselors while writing personal statement…

Best of luck!

Your extracurriculars are quite strong! However, I suggest that you retake either the SAT or ACT- I think this would he something that would hold you back from being admitted. Try and aim for a score in the 1900 or 2000s. Also, try and raise your GPA. Schools would rather see strong grades in regular classes than low grades in AP or Honor classes. Good luck!

Well UC Davis doesn’t see SAT scores no more. If you are 1500-1600 SAT with a STRONG GPA of say 3.85 etc , then you are good to go! Extracurricular activities should be strong and your personal statement should be good enough…combine all that with decent SAT score and a strong GPA…and thats it…Davis accepts you…specially if you are in top 10 percent of your senior class…

I think UCs are abandoning SATs in coming years…students won’t be required to take SAT at all…I might be wrong but that is what I heard…

Don’t count on the UCs eliminating SAT I anytime soon!

You would be well served to take the SAT again (pending your latest ACT score). By the numbers, you’re about at the 25th percentile of incoming freshman - Davis will be a reach for you. Your math is strong at ~75th percentile, but your CR is weak - see if you can find someone to help you prepare for CR and Writing when you take again. And do everything you can to make the rest of your application stand out.

Make sure to submit your SAT II scores, your math is excellent (85th percentile) and chem is good (70th percentile). Even though they are no longer “required,” guidance from UC last year was they would be considered as “plus factors.” Haven’t seen anything that would change that for class of 2017. Are there any other subject tests you could take and do well on? Physics? Bio? Of course, you’ll have to balance taking additional SAT II’s with another SAT I and doing the best you possibly can in your remaining classes. If you can manage to get another 0.1 or 0.2 on your GPA it would help.

Make sure to use all the space available for describing your ECs - they will look good. And get someone really good to help you develop and edit your personal statement.

Davis Fall 2011 incoming freshman class middle 50% (25th - 75th percentile)
GPA: 3.86-4.22 (weighted and capped at 4.5)
ACT: 26-32
SAT Math: 610-740
SAT Reading: 550-690
SAT Writing: 580-710

@Teeta1-The UC system has stopped REQUIRING students from submitting SAT2s-not SAT 1. The SAT1 and/or ACT are still required. In fact, it is highly encouraged that you take the SAT2s to give yourself an advantage. And I am not sure if this is completely true, but the HS class of 2011 that got admitted in to UCD were all in the top 10% of their class, and rumor has it that it may be a continuing trend for future applicants
