Applying as a Junior transfer; UCI/Cal/LA

Major: Business Administration. Biz Econ for LA
GPA: After this Fall quarter, a 3.35 - 3.40... Also got a C+ in my Macroeconomics prereq :\
EC's: Had a job during Senior year, Boy Scouts for 7 years, Eagle Scout, current President of my CC's Circle K (community service club)
Essay: Strong essay. Prompt 1 was about my club work. Prompt 2 was about my ADD diagnosis in Senior year (had a ~2.6 HS GPA, failed classes. Wrote about how I've improved)

IGETC and major prereqs. will be completed.

Why is your GPA so low? I don’t think you have a chance for UCLA/UCB. UCI accepts very few biz admin transfers so I hope you have safeties.

No TAG/TAP. I did the Irvine TAG, but my C+ made me ineligible.

My GPA is pretty low cause of a few missteps during the year. Mainly my C+, though I have a few B’s as well. If it weren’t for my C+, my GPA would be 0.6ish higher.

Is it true that Irvine is only admitting 20 Biz. Admin transfers? That sounds ridiculously small…

i would say you have a good chance at irvine. As for cal and la, it’ll be a reach.
good luck

I hope you applied or TAG’d more schools. It doesn’t look too good. The average GPA for in coming freshman biz admin majors for UCI is 4.0 and they said it will probably be the same for transfers/change in majors. Your chances for UCB/UCLA are very very slim.

I would consider UCR for biz or UCSB for econ/accounting. There is always the cal states if you enjoy biz.

.6 higher? so like a 4.0 right.

I would apply to more schools, its not too late if you submitted your app on time.

Haha oops, typo. I meant around a 0.09ish difference.

Did you mean apply to more UC’s? I kinda wish I’d applied to a few more UC’s, even though I’d probably prefer to stay another year at CC.

I would say pretty poor chance at all 3, the business admin major at UCI has VERY few slots available. even though its not as reputable as CAL or LA it is probably more difficult to get in looking from a statistical standpoint. on top that your C in economics will hurt your prereq gpa pretty badly.

If you wrote a really good essay you might have a shot at cal,
UCLA I would say 99% NO.
UCI not really sure, because I can’t find stats but I’ve heard they admit VERY few people.

“Business Administration: For fall 2010, junior-level applicants with the highest grades overall (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0) and who satisfactorily complete lower-division courses equivalent to UCI’s calculus (Mathematics 2A-B), economics (Economics 20A-B), and statistics and accounting (Management 7, 30A, 30B) will be given preference for admission. Management 10 may be completed at UCI. Admission to the major will be competitive due to limited space availability.”

I can’t find the exact number but I remember thinking it seemed pretty ridiculously low.

i go to UCI and i know that this is the first year where if u are a UCI student u can transfer into that major meaning there are probably less spots then there were last year

I dont think you have too great a shot at Cal or LA, and u got a C in one of the major pre-reqs…UCI, i have no idea, i dont know anything about their business program, except that their business school is fairly new.

Pretty much no chance.

Cal average admit for Haas-3.93
UCLA average admit for Biz-econ-3.86
UCI Business admin this is the first year and there only taking 15 transfers.
