CHance Me for UCLA! I need it!

Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.7
TAP Certified
Personal Statement: Very Good
EC's: Part of the AGS at my CC (Alpha Gamma Sigma, the Honors Society), I run my own blog on politics, participated in Honors Symposium at Berkeley and will participate this coming spring in Stanford with both presentations regarding politics, volunteered at a non-profit organization for one-year, volunteered at my local middle school for 6-months, Great references by 5 teachers, member of the Young Democrats

ALSO, this is my second and final year at my CC and I turned 17 this past June. I am a younger student who sacrificed my junior and senior years of high school to attend a CC and get into UCLA!

THank you!

You failed to give us your race/ethnicity, financial status/income level, SAT I and II scores and/or ACT score, and whether or not you are a California resident. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone to determine your chances for UCLA.

I am Iranian, income is $200,000 + and they don’t check the SATs/ACTs

Yes, they DO check the SAT I/IIs and ACTs.
And are you a Californian or not?

and yes i am a California resident

Ok cool, but you annoyingly still have failed to present us your SAT I score, your SAT II scores, and/or your ACT scores. What are they? We’re not freaking telepathic you know and you don’t have to feel embarrassed about anything because we don’t even know who you are, so just tell us your damn scores.

You’re a transfer student (that means you’ll be at a UC for 2 years as opposed to 4), so NO, you DON’T need the SATs or ACTs. You’re not a freshman anymore, so don’t worry about them. Also…race? No, they don’t check race, its against the law actually. Income level is important too, but it isn’t as important as it would be for freshman admissions.

Since you have TAP, that would put you at a higher chance of getting in. Otherwise…I’m not sure about how high of a shot you have, but I’m saying its a good chance, but don’t quote me!! I hope you do make it.

3.7… No shot sorry.

i think OP is applying as a transfer student in which case they do not check ACT/SAT

If the 3.7 is your CC gpa then yes i would say you have a good chance, especially along with your ECs and personal statement.

Oh lulz this is the Transfer forum. I thought it was a typical high school chance thread.

I must look like a ****ing ■■■■■■■ now rofl.

Well then, OP, now that I have gotten things straight, I would have to say that you don’t really have that good of a chance considering your GPA is quite low, especially for a CC.

^ thats not a low gpa for a CC. I think thats well above average transfer gpa for a non impacted major. But I could be wrong, I’ll have to double check the average transfer gpa.

ok i just checked. Its right about the average gpa for admitted students.

http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof10.htm</a></p>

Factoring in that its a non impacted major and the OPs ECs i would say they have a good chance for admission

@shayan7710

Just apply. Chance me threads are useless. You’ll never get a straight answer and that’s because no one is qualified to chance you. It’ll save you a lot of grief especially if you start reading into what people say.

Hey, he has TAP and 3.7 in an impacted major, you are in.

Trufflie, you sounded like a ■■■■■.

OT: Anyway, you did great, pat yourself on the back. Now, go beast that application up. Good luck!

Average transfer admit from poliSci is like a 3.7, so your gpa is right around there. just make sure to keep your grades up. Finishing up college < 18 is nice too, and with everything else you’ve accomplished seems pretty impressive.

As noted above, none of us are really qualified to tell you whether you’re in or not, but it does look like your in. Just keep your grades up and make your personal statement awesome and you should be in.

shayan,

I would say you do have a very good chance, i think it would just come down to your personal statement. i am attending ucla this fall as a polisci major.

don’t listen to trufflie, does sound like a ■■■■■.

good luck!

@TRUFFLIEPUFF - You are wrong when you criticized him for not posting his SAT scores. Yes you looked like a ■■■■■■■. His SAT scores are absolutely irrelevant and UCLA will never see them because he is applying as a transfer student. 3.7 is not a low GPA for a CC student. I got into UCLA with a 3.46 from CC.

@Ella89 - What in the world are you thinking when you are telling he has no chance with the 3.7 GPA? You are totally wrong. He DOES have a shot. Actually, I think he’s a shoe in.

Don’t listen to these fools! I think they might just be ■■■■■■■■ you because your family income is so high and maybe they’re jealous. Is that it? Otherwise I don’t know why people are giving you false information about your chances. If you have TAP and pre reqs and IGETC and 3.5+, then UCLA is a safety school for you.

I got into UCLA with a 3.46 GPA transferring from community college (TAP certified Pre Business Economics major).

According to [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm), the average GPA of admitted transfer students into UCLA pre political science major is 3.75. shayan7710 is only 0.05 grade points away from the average. Considering that shayan7710 is TAP certified, this more than makes up for the 0.05 that shayan7710 lacks in GPA. In my opinion, shayan7710 is going to get into UCLA pretty much for sure. Is there something I am overlooking?

I wouldn’t say for sure, but yes he has a good chance. He also never mentioned his progress on pre-reqs.
