Personal Statement
I am planning on writing about my brother who has a disability and how it has increased my responsibility. It has made me more responsible because the entire family has to take care of and watch him.

That's pretty much it! I thank you if you read the whole thing and chanced me! Please let me know if I can improve anything! :)

If you score a 2000/28+ you should have a good shot at UCLA

Thanks! I’m hoping for a 2000+ (or even a ~2050) I thought the test was way easier than my Princeton Review practice tests.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I’m a first generation college student. (If that makes any difference).

Weak ECs make it a reach but it is a low reach.

Bump for adding Spanish Honor Society and Action Team for Partnership (a club where we help the Vice Principal organize parent seminars about drug awareness). Both EC’s were started in Junior year and will continue into Senior year.

Definitely possible/a low reach if you get a 1950~2100
Anything above a 2100 and you’re in!
Chance me back! :)

Hey ValenciaBruin, your school is quite competitive. With your weighted GPA, you would be top ten (rank 1-10) in my class. At my school, usually top 8 gets in. However, this year only six people got in. I was the last of my class selected, with the lowest stats of them all as well. I think I brought something more to my application than high scores.
With that being said, it looks as though you have a good chance at getting in. My recommendation is to do some more community service this summer! It looks great when you have the ability to proudly log how many hours you’ve committed yourself to. It shows commitment, responsibility, and generosity. Your personal statement subject matter sounds great. Just make sure you show how you’ve grown from your family caring for your brother. Also, being a first-generation college student can make a difference, and I would recommend weaving this somewhere in your personal statement.

Good luck with the application! Hopefully I see you next year!

I think you have a good chance, if you SATs are 2000 and up but it’s also helpful that you’re a California resident. EC’s are pretty decent too. overall I think you have a good chance! (from what I believe, not a professional)

good luck!

I concur with barrk123

Dang, your school is pretty competitive. Well, if you pull a 2100+ superscored of a 32+ superscored you are in. It helps alot that you are a URM.

Chance me?

Sorry its a lot of schools…you can chance me for just a few if you wish

Northwestern is a big reach as is Georgetown. I don’t really know about colleges outside of California though.
