I’d say it’s a low reach. Your stats are very good. My main concern is that almost all of your ECs are band/music related and colleges typically like to see more academic activities. But UCs aren’t as focused on ECs, so who knows.
I’m not that clear on aid but I think OOS applicants generally have a harder time getting aid.

Oh also, how is it possible to have a 5.0 with a 3.83 GPA? That would mean taking more than 6 weighted classes a year. At most schools, a 5.0 GPA isn’t even obtainable.

It’s true that most of my extracurriculars are music-focused; it’s my passion, and I spent a lot of time delving deep into it- though I do have a technology hobby which I hope the club presidency of tech club will show.

My school (along with far too many others) uses a rather contrived weighted GPA system. It’s out of 6, so a 95 in an regular class = 4.5 and a 95 in an AP class is a 5.5- what this essentially means for me is that I have a 90 average on the super weighted scale.

your stats are good, but you need to have more well-rounded ecs. Even though it shows that you have passion for music, schools want to see more. Also, it’s even harder if you’re out of state, so just try to kick butt on the essays C:

@Techdude if your school is like that, you should recalculate your GPA to see what your UC GPA is. The UC’s don’t count Geometry Honors, English 1-2 Honors, and many other classes as weighted. They also have a select list of classes that they give credit for. So I definitely recommend taking some time to calculate you UC GPA to help you see where you stand.

I’d have to say a low reach for the same reasons stated above. However, if you’re going for a major that’s not math or science related, it would be a high match

Any other opinions?
