This fall I will be entering my senior year. I have a 4.1 weighted gpa and a 3.8 unweighted gpa. My "UC" gpa is 4.15. I got 2060 on SAT and 31 on ACT. I took the Math 2 Subject Test, but haven't received scores yet, and I plan on taking Spanish this fall. I've done various volunteering clubs throughout my high school career, but probably not as much as I should have. (around 1-2 hours a week) I played JV volleyball freshman year and was also in our school's award-winning jazz band. I've competed on my school's mountain bike team for the past 3 years, and was national ranked (top 10) this year. I've been looking at many of the UC's, and was wondering what my chances of getting into UCLA are. Also, if not UCLA, what other school's might be a better match? Thank you.

your chances at ucla are very good. from what i learned, they check each application thoroughly and really look into the personal statements. i had a 4.1 gpa was president and vice president of 5 clubs, held a part-time job, got a 1700 on the sat, and was top 3% of my class. my only flaw was that again i should have done more community service, i only did 25 hours in total. but i say you have a pretty good chance. the cases there are versatile, i know someone who got a 1500 on the sat but was valedictorian of a ghetto school, another girl who had a 1450 but had loads of community service, and a valedictorian who was active in their school. so it ranges, and it just depends on what ucla wants, or has room for. but always be open to other schools, i didn’t get in and my heart is still at ucla, but i cant let that ruin my experience at ucsb. the school i chose to go to, and you never know if you will choose to transfer later.

i hope this helped.

I come from a pretty competitive school, and I am just in the top 10% (like 9% or something). I’m also interested in UCSB, though. How would UCSB compare to UCLA based on competitiveness to get in?
