Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I would like to know my chances for UCM, UCR, and UCSC Possibly UCI, UCD, and UCSB though I know my chances aren't too good.

UW GPA: 2.92
W GPA: 3.15

Sophmore GPA: 2.6ish
Junior GPA: 3.71
Senior GPA (atm): 4.3

(As you can see, a bit of a late bloomer)

SAT: 1910

M: 600
W: 640

SAT 2:
US History: 750

Bio: 3
US History: 5

Took 3 AP's so far (Bio, USH, and WH) and taking 3 more in my senior year right now.

Strong personal statements, one about the diversity of urban Los Angeles and another is a quirky story about volunteering to foster a dog and ending up fostering 7 puppies and how it helped me learn responsibility and patience, etc.

Upward trend in grades and good SAT will help your chances but only at UCM/UCR.
UC GPA? <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

UCM/UCR: High Match
UCSC: Low Reach
UCSB/UCI/UCD: Reach

UC’s are very GPA focused. I suggest you look at some of the Cal States for Matches and safeties.

Is the UC GPA the same as a weighted GPA of a-g courses? Or do they have a different way of calculating it?

The roger hub calculator uses the a-g courses to calculate your UC GPA and you are given only 8 extra Honors points for AP and approved Honors classes taken 10-11th grade and is it is capped. Most weighted GPA’s on transcripts will give extra points for all Honors and AP classes, not just the UC approved classes which makes it a uncapped weighted. Just wanted to know if you WGPA of 3.15 is the UC GPA capped or your fully weighted GPA from your transcript. The minimum UC GPA is 3.0 to be eligible to apply.

Bump

got a 2080 on my recent SAT
CR: 730
M: 640
W: 710

I also forgot to mention, i’m planning on majoring in political science.

Thanks everyone

I have attached links for the common dataset for UCSC and UCR. Your SAT is great but your GPA will still be a problem although you show an good upward trend. Pay attention to the % of admits based on your unweighted GPA to give you an idea of your chances. Your GPA/SAT score mismatch is a red flag for admissions since you did not address the reason for your low GPA.

Good Luck and I hope you get into one of your choices.

Accepted to UCR for political science! I have a feeling a good essay really helped too, as I also received a supplemental from UCLA, UCSD, and UCD despite having such low stats. Fingers crossed
