Chance me for UC's? I will chance back!!

I am an Asian Male; in-state resident; income bracket over 200k.

Unweighted GPA: 3.74
SAT: 2140
SAT Math II: 720; SAT Bio E: 700

My biggest concerns are my grades (downward trend my junior year, although I tried to explain it in the additional comments section to the best of my ability).

Grade 10:
Chemistry H: A/A
Algebra 2 H: A/A
English 10 H: A/A
AP European: A/A
Spanish 3: A/A

Grade 11:
Physics H: B/B
APUSH: B/B
IB English: A/A
AP Spanish: A/A
AP Psychology: A/A
*Math Analysis H: B/D (i know, it is horrid. i retook the course online...would it help my chances?)

I am applying to the following campuses:
Irvine, Davis, LA, Berkeley, and San Diego (all for Biochemistry major).

Do I have a solid chance of getting into them? Your help is greatly appreciated :)

UCLA and UC-Berkeley would be a bit of a reach.
The rest should be good matches (I know people who have gotten in to Irvine/Davis/San Diego with less-impressive SATs/stats than yours).
You should probably retake the SAT and try to obtain 2200+.
How are your extracurriculars?

I would say that they’re decent:
I spoke at my local TEDx conference
Hospital Volunteer (about 300 hours total)
Interact Club Secretary (been in there for 3 years now); also a RYLA and PRLS graduate
FBLA Treasurer (also 3 years)

UCLA and UCB: High Match
UCSD: Match/High Match
UCI and UCD: Match

Isn’t there that rule where you can never have received a D in any course to be eligible for UCs? Or does it not apply anymore? I have no clue. Regardless, your GPA is still pretty good, and with your good SAT score, I would say Berkley and UCLA are reaches, UCSD is a high match, UCD is a low match, and UC Irvine is a safety. Good luck!!

In my opinion you match in all since your instate with those stats.

@Gronpats95
As far as I’ve heard, it does not say that anywhere on the UC website.

@Tyger97, thanks for the input!

As a general question, if I wrote ‘decent’ essays, what effect would it have on my chance for admission? (Would the change be small or significant?)

it depends what you write about and how you present yourself ^

Thank you hangooksaram, you have been very helpful in answering my questions.

Any other opinions?

It is true that UC’s do not accept Ds in a-g classes.

@letjustin: yes, it’s true my ‘D’ in Math Analysis would not be accepted, but it would not render me ineligible for UC’s, right? (would they take into consideration that I retook it online?)

hey, I don’t think that D would effect you too much, if you have a valid reason for the sudden drop instead of slacking off. You look pretty sturdy academic wise, and im judging that your ec’s would be pretty good.

UCI: match/safty
UCB/LA: match, high match.

p.s, one of my senior friends just found out he got into Berkely, I think his gpa was a 3.8, so your not that far off.

chance me back=), my threads kinda old, but its called " UC CHANCES POR FAVOR!?"
