-AIME Qualifier x5 (8-12, found out today I qualified for this years)
-USAMO Qualifier x2 (freshman, junior), missed MOP by a few points junior year
-USAPO Semifinalist (sophomore)
-USACO Bronze, Silver Division (sophomore, junior)

Does MOP accept seniors? If it does I'd love to make it this year...

Essays: Common application one is about music. Supplement is about how I coped with my parents' divorce. The people who've looked at them so far think they're good.
Teacher Recommendations: One from the English 10/AP English Language teacher, one from my AP Physics C/AP Chemistry teacher, and one from my research mentor/real analysis teacher. I've only seen the English one, but it looks great.
Counselor rec: Fantastic.
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: Mathematics
State (if domestic applicant): CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

You seem quite math/science heavy, more so on the math side. I took Calc BC in 7th grade, and have continued into discrete mathematics in high school. I am now Tri-Varsity captain of my high school of 5000, as a junior. From this perspective, I would say that you lack balance, but you certainly have a decent shot at MIT and UCs.

Now for the Ivy Leagues…SATs and GPA are average (from my perspective, of course- I got 2400 on SAT I and 800s on SAT IIs). Your courses reflect your passion for math and music, which is certainly good- but your extracurriculars fail in terms of balance. I would give you a small chance at the Ivys- but then again, the Ivys are a reach for anyone. Good luck. ;)

Do you really think the chances are small? >.>

Dude, I’m not gonna say your “in” at all of them, but you have as good as a chance as possible at MIT
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1077790-chance-me-jhu-computer-engineering-ok-gpa-good-sats-pretty-good-ecs-hook.html</a></p>

great test scores and EC’s … so a good chance at all… but ivy’s are reaches for everyone so …

UC Berkeley In

UChicago Match/In

Brown

I think you have a good chance at all of your schools. Since they are competitive, I wouldn’t go o far as to say you are “in,” but the UC’s and MIT are definatly matches; howeveer, Ivies are always crapshoots, lets be honest, so they’re a reach for anyone, including you. Good luck.

Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1072869-what-do-you-think-my-chances.html</a></p>

With USAMO and your other math achievements, I’d say MIT is more than likely to accept you.

Ivies/MIT/Stanford = low reach
Others— match :D

Your ECs and everything are amazing!

EC’s show great involvement in math. Definitely shows a passion in what you do, as well as great talent.

Numbers are all good. Overall you have the best chance you’ll be able to get at these schools, but Harvard/other ivies regularly turns down great apps. The good thing is you’ll have a backup.
