Thanks jman! I’m in the Inland Empire area in SoCal so there are some new schools going up around here. How high do you think I’d need to get my SAT or ACT to?

@bob, i’m Asian

Well when I tell you guys my stats you will be really surprised haha.

I got in to all the UC’s and CSU’s except for Berkeley and Los Angeles.

I only had a 1700 SAT, a 26 ACT and a 4.1 weighted GPA. I think what got me accepted was all of my extracurriculars ( I had A LOT of leadership positions). I know people who got in to UCSD with stats even lower than mine so you never know. Good Luck!! And start working on your personal statement now!

SATs are a little weak

You have an okay chance at UCSD, if you can get your SAT up I see no reason why they would reject you, though they place some emphasis on extracurriculars. The UCB/UCLA admission cycle (they totally collude on who gets accepted where) should have SoCal residents getting an easier shot at UCB next year than they did this year (and a harder shot at UCLA), this is just my ‘superstitious’ opinion though.

You will probably not get accepted at USC, but its not out of the question, and at the other schools you’re in for sure. Its amazing to me that anyone would even question your acceptance at UCI, but then some people think its impossible to get into college.

bump 10 char

@nikolka Can you explain the UCB/UCLA admission cycle a little more?

bumperss
anyone else?

I am not really sure why everyone is complaining about your sat score. Did they overlook your act score which is like a 2000 something sat? Anyway, I think you do have a nice chance for all of them, though la and cal may be a slight reach (and maybe usc because of act) . However, I do have a friend who got into both this year with similar stats as you so you should be fine. Are you within the top 10% of your class?

Your grades are actually really good- if you can score over 2100 on your SAT in october then you would be a great contender at all of the UCs listed above.

I think you have a decent chance at all of them. As for UC Berkeley, I have a friend that’s a freshman there and he only had an 1800 with not a lot of community service and ECs (pretty much same as you). However, I do know he had a really good personal statement. So if you beast at that, then you have an decent chance.

Idk, I laugh at some of the people obsessing over stats because I know several kids who got into “prestigious” schools with decent scores (NOT great). Seriously, scores do matter, but I don’t think they matter as much as some people here think they do (you know, those kids obsessing over a 2150+). An amazing personal statement can be gold with decent/good stats.

a friend of mine got into UCLA on a 1600 SAT but a perfect ACT. you have hope yet!
