If you’re a California resident and can raise the SAT score to 1800+, I want to say you have a great shot at UCLA. With your ACT, GPA and ECs, I’m fairly certain you can get into UCSB, UCSD and UCI.

Obviously I could easily be mistaken, it’s just my insight. You should also look into UCR as a safety, for a worst case situation.

UCLA/UCSD: Reach (Unless you increase that SAT)
UCI: High Match (UCI likes Higher GPA’s vs. SAT)
UCSB: High Match/Low Reach (UCSB likes High SAT’s vs. GPA)
UCSC could be a Match and UCR your safety.
You should also consider SDSU or CSULB as good Safeties if you are in-state California.

The UC system does not use affirmative action to admit students so the Hispanic thing isn’t given an advantage.

I think you need to consider Riverside and Merced because your scores are not competitive for the top UC’s nor for SDSU or Long Beach. You’re going to have to up those SATs to at least a 2000, minimum, sorry.

Update: I do have safeties on my list such as CSULB, CSUF, although I do believe I could get into UC’s because our top 20 at our school usually get in UCI and UCSB and I am taking the most challenging classes at my school, something my valedictorian isn’t even doing. But I am aware UCLA is a reach because usually only our top 10 get into it and I am rank 12. Just wanted to give you guys more of a background of the statistics at my school
