so Im planning to apply to (in state) UCB, Stanford, UCLA, UC Davis and (out of state) Brown. Please tell me what you think of my chances to these schools. Im currently short on time and will add more info later. As of now...

GPA
4.0 UW
4.83 W

School does not rank but if it did, I would be ranked at least among top 10% in school if not higher.

SAT/SAT II-still a junior so working on that, however...
BIO M-760
SAT I (from practices) -2150

plan to take Chem, Math II, and perhaps another English oriented test.

APs- so far...
AP Statistics-4
AP European History-5

By the end of this year I will have taken five more tests with predicted scores ranging from 4-5.

I am heavily centered around Genetic studies and have down much extracurrics around that. More so, I plan to major in the Pre-Med field. If it helps Im a first generation.

COMMUNITY SERVICE- ~200

Extracurrics- no need to worry bout that. The usual sports and music. On the music note, however, do colleges like that I formed my own band and have composed my own light rock songs w/genuine and wholesome lyrics (think-Elvis presley meets a censored radiohead)...or do they scowl at such an achievement?

Hard to chance without Junior year stats… Try to get eligibility for ELC (look it up on the UC website) basically you get guaranteed acceptance to UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara if you are in the top 4% of your class. The other UCs will give you extra points when reviewing your app if you are ELC.

i think for the uc’s, you’re good. as for brown, i’m not too sure, but your 4.0 will help. brown is a reach (but it is for most people, so don’t sweat it). however, there are other great schools in the range of brown and uc’s.

Sorry about the day late response. . .anyway, it’s sort of hard to guage with just what you listed. What you score on practice SAT tests is often fairly different then what you get on the real tests. I have a 2190 but have had practice tests tell me I’d get anything from a 2000 to a 2250. By the sound of it your ec’s could probably use some work; colleges won’t scoff at you for starting a band, but it wont really help unless you plan on doing something with music and/or can write a stellar essay about your band and what it has meant to you. Your grades are obviously amazing but you will lose points at schools like Stanford for living in state (private schools get many in state applicants and they like to seek geographic diversity by chasing kids in underrepresented states) Race can also play a huge deal unfortunately. I’ve seen asian kids with perfect SAT1, ACT, SAT2, GPAs, and stellar ec’s get rejected while native americans with stats barely hovering above average get in. If you are a caucasian student (please just use this as a reference point if you aren’t caucasian) then I would say that you have low to mid range chances at all of the schools you’ve listed and about a 5%-10% shot at stanford and brown. I know this probably isn’t what you wanted to hear, but as you are a junior you have time to pull up your scores and maybe try out some new ec’s. Good luck

I would say that you have a chance for UCB and UCD and MAYBE UCLA.

However, I’m just not seeing it with Stanford and Brown ): Sorry. Then again, I may be wrong, these kind of universities are extremely unpredictable.

I think you have a fair shot at the UC’s. Your credentials are great. Brown is up in the air just because it’s an Ivy that takes Common App. Once you have your Junior stats set - SATs, APs, etc. - you’ll have a better understanding. But I think all of those are realistic. Good luck!!!
