Chance me for UCs? Please?

<p>Hi! I'm planning to apply to UCs as backup, but I'm not sure which ones to apply to. Can anyone give me any suggestions for matches and reaches? As of now, I'm planning on applying to Berkeley, SD, Irvine, and Davis. Is that good enough, or should I also try SB and SC?</p>

<p>My Stats:
I go to a very competitive hs in CA (Top 40 HS)
3.7 uw GPA, no class rank (7 honors, 2 APs)
2130 SAT, 670 CR, 800 M, 660 W
33 ACT, 36 M, 33, Eng, 34 Sci, 30 Reading, 8 on essay
after school job as tutor for 2 years
library volunteer for 3 years
treasurer for school club for 1 year
accumulated 300 hrs of community service</p>

<p>UCs look at 10-12 weighted gpa so i cant really comment on urs for this.
ur sat is ok. UCs mostly base their decisions off of GPA and SAT.</p>

<p>i would also put UCLA in there. berkeley, ucla, ucsd and then one more safety.
berkeley and ucla arent safeties.</p>

<p>depending on what you like, i would just choose either irvine, davis, sb, or sc. they are all about the same (sc is a little worse though), but have different feels.</p>

<p>but if money isnt an issue then go ahead and check more boxes. but its not really worth it to spend so much money on all these extra schools. u should be a match for ucsd and fine for all the ones that are lower.</p>

<p>You need more safeties. Right now, Berkeley and LA are low reaches because of your GPA. I recommend Irvine, Davis, and SB as matches/safeties.</p>

<p>Thanks for all the feedback! I don’t want to spend too much money applying to UCs when I don’t have that much reason to go if I get accepted into one of my privates. The only reason I’m applying to Berkeley is to see if I can get in :P</p>

<p>I was debating between Davis and Irvine. Which one is generally considered “better”?</p>

<p>hard to say. academics are very similar.
other than that:
davis
has div 1 football
extremely large campus in terms of area
large in terms of students
resides in a college town</p>

<p>irvine
rather high percentage of asians
medium sized campus
large in terms of students
kind of lacking in school spirit b/c lack of football and being commuter school
a little more to do outside in irvine than davis</p>

<p>i guess you can look at rankings if you want to make up your mind.</p>

<p>You are a solid match at UCI and it may even be considered a high safety. I would also consider UCSD, if I were you. UCSC would be well below your stats profile.</p>
