Chance Me for UCs (UCSD,UCD,UCI)- Will Chance Back!

I'm a Junior planning in applying to a few universities next school year.

I plan to apply to: UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB, and BYU Provo (I'm mormon).

Don't really expect to get into UCSD, and will feel lucky if I get into UCD but oh well :/

UC GPA: 3.79
SAT1: 1970 (670 CR, 620 M, 680 W) (first time, I plan to increase to at least 2050)

AP classes: Biology, English Comp., Pyschology (took this past May so dont know scores yet)

Senior Year courseload:
-AP Calculus
-AP Literature
-AP Gov./Honors Economics
-Photography
-Possibly AP Chem

E.C.s (weak, I know):
-Key Club
-CSF (California Scholarship Federation)
FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)
-Attended early morning seminary for an hour every day before school (for 4 years)
-200+ service hours

I also have a huge upward trend since Freshman year, went from 1.9 GPA freshman year to 4.0 GPA junior year. I plan to somehow tell them about the challenges I faced in school. These challenges include terrible eyesight that disabled me from seeing the board until diagnosed in sophomore year, significant (>50%) bilateral hearing loss so I couldnt hear any of my teachers, and ADD predominantly inattentive type so I had a hard time focusing. I also had family struggles around my during my 8-10th grade years because my older brother had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which was a pretty big thing to deal with as a family.

So... What are my chances and what can I do to increase them? (I already know my GPA is low but its just too late to improve it).

Thank you all so much!

BYU: Low match/Match
UCSD: Reach
UCD: High match
UCI: Match/High match
UCSB: Match/High match

Thank you Catria! Could someone please advise me on the best way to turn UC Davis into a match? I REALLY want to go there. Would increasing my SAT to a 2050 be enough?

Anyone else? :)

What’s wrong with your record? I think it would have given you a lot more to worry about if you were applying to really really top colleges but 3.79 and 1970 seem around average for incoming students to the UCs besides maybe Berkley and Los Angeles.

Successfully overcoming a serious obstacle is pretty impressive to colleges in general. If you can draw a clear case for why they should accept you and why you want to go you should be fine.

BYU: don’t know enough to tell you
UCSD: low reach/high match
UCD: low reach/high match
UCI: low reach/high match
UCSB: match

Do more ECs/volunteering to make up for the low GPA

You can get into all of those universities if you raise your SAT score and write an awesome essay. Chance Back!

I concur with @equation if you raise your SAT and right killer essays (UC actually care bout essay) I say you can get into those schools yes your Gpa is kinda semi low … But I think it maybe over looked
UCSD- low reach
