chance me for UCs + USC + NYU!

Stats:

-Female
-CA resident
-white
-class of 2010

-GPA: unweighted 3.84 weighted 4.054
-SAT: 2070 (Math 600, CR 680, Writing 790)
-SAT IIs: US History 710, French 740
-APs: AP Euro 5, waiting for French and US History

ECs (I know they are probably "weak" and that they're all over the place)
-staff writer on newspaper 2 years
-JV cross country 3 years, JV track 1 year
-JSA member 2 years, secretary 1 year
-STAND member 2 years
-ASB 2 years
-Piano 3 years

Senior schedule:
AP Government, AP World History, AP Environmental Science, World Literature, Newspaper

Some more things about me:
-Prospective major(s): History and/or French
-Received C in Algebra 4 Sophomore year, re-took Junior year and got a B (am terrible at math)
-I will not qualify for financial aid, and am not disadvantaged in any way
-Not first-generation
-I'm not very interesting EC-wise, but I am passionate about languages, history, etc.

Schools:
-UCLA/Cal
-UCSD
-UCSB
-UC Irvine
-Davis maybe
-NYU
-USC (my dad got his PhD here, but IDK if this makes me a legacy)
-CSU Long Beach
-SDSU

I’d say in at the UCs, but Berkeley & UCLA might be a reach. Almost definitely in SDSU and CSU Long Beach. USC and NYU… both toss-ups IMO. Only thing really hurting for those two schools is being an overrepresented ethnicity and the lack of ECs. Otherwise you should be fine.

Also my ranking is 60/599, and my school is very competitive. For what it’s worth, it got a silver medal from USNews.

In addition, if anyone could suggest any other schools they think would fit me, that would be awesome.

And thanks BaddyCaddy… lol I know that I basically have no chance at Berkeley and LA, but I’ll probably still apply just for the heck of it – same app as the other UCs.

You most certainly have a chance. Especially being a California resident.

Thanks  Plus… 16 people at my school got into Cal this year.

Bump… 10 chars

Chance me please!

-UCLA/Cal low reach
-UCSD in
-UCSB in
-UC Irvine in
-Davis in
-NYU in
-USC (my dad got his PhD here, but IDK if this makes me a legacy) reach
-CSU Long Beach in
-SDSU in
also uci ucsb and ucd are pretty much same level, ranking wise. y apply to all 3?

You should definitely get into the UC’s if you go to a top school in California and are top 10% in your class. Try to get some leadership positions in your EC’s! NYU may be a reach, but I think you have a great shot at the others.

To get into NYU and USC you should probably try and bring your SAT up but you seem fine for the UCs.

@92jjxx: All three as kind of a back-up, because I’m sure I’ll get into at least one. Plus, like I said with Cal/UCLA – they all have the same application

@mburns: What SAT range do you think would be okay? Like another 100 points? Or more?

Everyone else: Thanks!

oops i mean to ask if you’d chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735911-chance-georgia-peach-stanford-other-top-schools-i-chance-back.html</a> thanks!

ok but i think u should apply to more csu’s if u want more backup/safety schools

I think I’ll be fine with CSULB and SDSU. Maybe I’ll add SFSU or something, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

USC, NYU, UCB: Reach
UCLA: High match
Others: Matches

-UCLA/Cal: mid reach
-UCSD: match/in
-UCSB: match/in
-UC Irvine: match/in
-Davis: saftey/in
-NYU: mid reach
-USC: match
-CSU don’t know
-SDSU don’t know

you seem to be pretty weak on the extracurricular front… being “interested” doesn’t communicate too well to admissions officers.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735819-i-cant-believe-im-actually-doing-but.html</a></p>

Thanks! The EC thing doesn’t really bother me… IDK I don’t really care if I don’t get into Cal or whatever, UCSB will be fine for me.

Most of the UC school’s aren’t a problem with your stats.
Look around to a lot of east coast schools, you would do great! How about Boston College or Boston University?
this may be kind of a stretch, but I would work on your SAT’s a little bit more and put in an application to Yale. Their history program is top-notch!
chance back!

I think you have a shot at all of them, really. A 4.0 GPA is great! Your SAT score is good too.

Please chance me:
