Hi everyone,

I am a junior worried about what college I can get into. Please let me know if I have a shot at UC’s, considering my 10-11 UW GPA will probably be around 3.55 and W GPA of 4.25. Also I got a 2000 flat on the SAT. I really want to get into UCI and UCSB for Economics and my second choice would be Psychology. My ECs are decent (internships, leadership roles at volunteering programs and some awards).

UCI would probably be a Match although they love 4.0+ GPA’s. UCSB will be a tougher admit especially for Econ or Psych so I would say a High Match (50/50). Good Luck.

Also do you think Cal Poly SLO is feasible for me?
Reading and math scores combined, my SAT is 1350.

Cal poly SLO would be worth an application. They also consider 9th grades in their GPA calculation. Econ is an easier admit then Psych at SLO.
They use a MCA point system for admissions.

Cool link, but do you know if my point value is enough for SLO? (Roughly between 4300-4600, I got all A’s freshman year)

Take a look at the current Decision thread for SLO. Pretty tough year for all applicants. Psych applicants with MCA’s of 4750 scores have been denied. I would say a Low Reach for SLO but worth an application.

Sorry that this thread is now off topic, but I was also curious about my out of state chances for University of: Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana-Bloomington, and Washington-Seattle. Plus for privates like University of San Diego, what are my chances of getting reduced tuition since I think I am pretty qualified compared to info on collegedata.com. Also, for my PSAT I got 1390, so does that make me have a chance for being a commended scholar? Last thing for now, all my B’s came sophomore year. (B+'s in weighted classes first semester) so will colleges take into consideration my stumble and accept me for this year’s rebound?

UCSD: Low Reach
UCLA/UCB: Reach

Chances based on stats only. Essays and EC’s could have a positive impact but difficult to determine. Not familar with the rest of the schools to give you a chancing.

UC’s are very GPA focused so GPA trumps Test scores unless you have extenuating circumstances contributing to the lower than average GPA. Take a look at the decision threads to give you an idea of their acceptance criteria and check this link for the average admitted GPA from your HS for each UC.
