Chance me for UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, or UC IRVINE! And any other UC's i should look into.

As of right now, i am a sophomore so im writing this just to see what my future might look like.

During freshman and the first half of sophomore year i've had extreme, life changing difficulties at home.
My brother was on drugs and would go crazy on my parents ,doing extreme and unthinkable things for a LONG and consistant period of time. caused all types of problems for not only himself, but for my family and i. Just as an idea, my oarents called the cops on him 3 times. Later he went on to get a DUI and work constantly. Now he's a new man an back on his feet :) Also, during that time my father had lost a large sum of money in the stock market and was also laid off. My mom was just as much a a victim as me, as we were under stress. But im proud to say we're all a genuine happy famiy. I am now an incredibly strong minded, hardworking, and promissing individual.

Freshman year i got a 3.0 and a 3.1. (i now understand that UCs dont look at them?) I had two pre-ap classes.

Im a sophomore now, and i got a 3.3 gpa first quarter, and a 3.6 second quarter. I know that my grades are not the best.

Classes:
Chemistry honors -B+
Algebra 2 - B
World history AP - B-
French 2 - A (retake)
Orchestra - B+ (my first/last one in the class.) i know i will be first chair for all four years.
English 2 - A-

Junior year classes
Human physiology
English 3 AP
Biology AP
Pre-calculus Honors
Orchestra
US History

Next year i am DETERMINED to get at least a 4.2 out of the possible 4.5. Biology and english are some of the hardest classes on campus.

My ECs are:
-JV soccer captain this year
-Coaches like me and will almost deffinately play varsity for 11th and 12th grade
- Ive played for a competitive team outside of school for about 5 years. We usually get 2nd or 3rd in tournaments.
-100+ hours community service at the library. (And i plan to do at least a minimum of 20+ hours volunteering at the hospital/dentist office. Im on their waiting list.)
-Ive played in the Central valley Youth Symphony of UOP for over 6 years
- regionally ranked for HOSA in dentistry
- im of Iranian ethnicity(classify as white) and i speak fluent Farsi. I can read and write too.

I will recieve three varsity letters for various things, and i will recieve a

Im trying to expand on My ECs. What could i do?

As for my SAT:
My grades dont nessessarily show it, but i took the PSAT and i got like a 195. With a lot of studying, Im want to achieve a 2050+ on the actual SAT.

Unfortunately, UC's dont accept Letter of Recs.

Im sure ill write a great essay! (It wont mention a lot about what happend to me in the past.)

Please feel free to give any critiques, advice, or pointers!

Thanks!

UCs dont count your freshmen year grades, so dont include those. Make sure to do good junior year and get a good sat/act score. For your gpa, 3.3-3.5 range could get you into UC Santa Cruz 3.5-3.7 could get you into UCI and UCSB (and I would look into UCD too). However, your ECs are a little weak for UCSD and UCLA. Join more clubs and get leadership positions and get your GPA up to at least 3.8 to have a chance at those schools.

Thank you sderek!
