I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU THINK THAT I WILL GET AID. My dad has $30,000 for me each semester, and says that I should only go to a school that pays off the rest. The most money I will take out for my own debt is $10,000 per semester, so do you think UCSB would pay $15,000 for me to go to that school?

Thanks!!

Also, my UC gpa is a 4.42!

It is hard to say. There are so many factors that come to play and most (if not all) big universities never really come out and say stuff like “we really want sports writers,” although that and your other extracurriculars are a big plus. UCs have traditionally been more geared towards accepting and aiding students from California and I’m going to assume you are not based on your tuition quote. It would help answering this question if I had a little more info about your parents financial situation as well as your race/ethnic background. Both things can play a huge role in federal as well as university-based financial aid.

I had a college planner go over my financial aid that I received from UCSB just this past year and he said that one of the scholarships I received was just because “UCSB really likes you and wants you at their school.” The scholarship was about $4000 and you probably won’t see much more money than that in a single grant/scholarship from UCSB. That being said, you may receive multiple scholarships of any amount of money, but, again, a lot of it has to do with need and, if you are a minority, race. But with not enough emphasis on “need”.

I think you are in good shape for most majors - on the cost, as an in-state student, $30k per year should be more than enough.

UCSB is on quarter system so your quarterly bill for tuition/room/board would be around $9000 or $27K/year. If your dad has that much money to give you, you would not be eligible for any FA. Scholarships would be a possibility but most may be not renewable each year. You have good stats so a Regents scholarship is a possibility which can range from $2500 to 6500 depending upon the school. If you are in- state you should have everything covered with the $30K
