Extracurriculars: I've been playing Piano outside of school as private lessons since third grade, so its been about 9 years now. I'm going to be a committee head of my school's math club next year. Im working on becoming a lifetime member of CSF (California scholarship foundation?) I did a little bit more than 20 hours of service my sophomore year. Im currently doing volunteer service at a hospital near by, i plan on doing 40 hours or more there. I applied to NHS, but im not sure if ive been accepted.

Oh! and i am in the top 10% of my class. And became one of the top ten of my class based on my junior year GPA. (Straight As)

So what are my chances at UCSD when I'm applying for electrical engineering? Thanks ;]

UCSD uses a point system to evaluate ur technical stats (i.e. SATs, gpa, ECs, etc). You can find the rubric here –> [UC San Diego Comprehensive Review Admission Process: Freshman Selection, Fall 2010](http://www.ucsd.edu/prospective-students/freshmen/eval-process.html)

As long as you meet the cutoff line ( i know a lot of ppl being short 20-30 points and get rejected) and have decent essays, you should be in good shape. Point is, stop worrying, if you get in, gr8. If you don’t, just a school. Grad school is more important anyway.

BUMP Please respond ;]

dude, ur stats are way better than mine, so you should be fine. i got into ucsd with a 3.9w gpa, 1790 sat, 27 act, and 200 hrs of community service.

wow u put my stats to shame

my GPA 3.8
SAT 1610
over 100 hour community service
was in National Honors society
and vice president of A.S.I.A club

as long as you slay the personal statement i am sure you will be fine.
i slayed mine :)

lol problem is, is that i dont have that much hours of community service. Not many major Ecs that i think really influenced my life or others deeply.

Hey, I’m an electrical engineer at UCSD! Going to be a 3rd year.

Here were my stats:
4.1 gpa, 1800 SAT’s (LOW :(), 45 AP credits.

I pretty much slayed the essay though, because I had done so much community service.

Good luck to you! Its a HARD AS HELL major. Lets just say I have a 3.3 gpa right now and i’m top 25% of electrical engineers ;)
