<p>Explain your family issues and why they affected you so heavily and so long as it’s a legitimate reason, you’re in at every school. A 36 ACT shows that you are in a fact very intelligent, and that had you not been going through difficult times your GPA would be much higher as well.</p>

<p>What is the AP Living Env. Class? As I am aware there is no living environment AP test. And for your GPA issue, if you failed all your classes (or most) than definitely address that issue (I am assuming you failed since you implied the 3.00 was over the course of all three years). A high test score and low gpa implies laziness, but if you explain yourself and have high grades besides one semester, colleges will forgive you.</p>

<p>Well i haven’t failed any classes. I am mostly a B/B+ student.
I ended up pulling a bunch of C-/C’s for final grades for junior year(4 of them to be exact >.>)(BUT i managed to fail my precalc midterm which is my only actual fail in my life). But now my life is settled and i am entirely focused on school work even more so than i was in fresh and soph year.
By living environment i meant environmental lol. mybad.</p>

<p>Honestly, it will be hard to get into any top school with that GPA – colleges assume that people with HIGH standardized test scores but LOW GPAs are just lazy. I think you need to devote an entire essay or use your “Additional Information” to explain the situation and hope for the best. </p>

<p>Also, if you did well on the APs, then your GPA wont look as bad (especially considering you go to a very competative school)</p>

I just hope UCSD will cut me some slack and accept me rofl.</p>

<p>Does your school weight on the A/B/C/D/F scale or the 100 grade point scale? (as in does an A always receive 4.0 or only a 100 receive a 4.0?) if your school is off the 100 point scale, then your GPA is under inflated, and your adcom will artificially inflate your GPA( basically put it on the same scale the college uses).</p>

<p>it uses the ABCDF scale. and anyone with A’s get’s a 4.0.
so my gpa will possibly be higher? :P</p>

<p>i checked out this summer school close by and they say that they can help improve ur grade if u attend the classes. All i need is the principal’s permission. If that works out i can improve my precalc and english grade to A’s which will bring me to a 3.1-3.2 range or maybe higher.
On top of that i plan on messaging my guidance coun. in august if i can register for fall online classes to improve my gpa. It will be costly but it will be worth it!</p>

<p>No your GPA will stay the same, sorry :(. I would also look into getting a good research internship, which would show intuition and a passion for learning.</p>

i was going to apply at the Stony Brook one but i didn’t have the scores for it back in like march. i will try and research at a hospital or something.</p>

<p>i think i am just going to have to make it a summer project of having my book published. I have been thinking over the weekend about it and i could finish my novel by friday. From there i am just going to send excerpts of my books to various publishing companies and newspapers and see what happens. It isn’t med related ec but it certainly would be a bonus on my app. Plus i wouldn’t mind having my novel published :P</p>
