I understand my GPA may be under par for some of these universities, so feel free to suggest matches or closer reaches!

Every UC on your list looks like at least a high match, but probably really reaches for your majors. Washington is probably a reach for engineering.

Add UCSC, UCR, UCM, and perhaps some CSUs (not just CPSLO) for more likely admission, unless you prefer to start at a community college as your safety plan.

Thanks for the recommendations!! Would u also consider UCSB or Irvine a high match or match for me if I apply for a less impacted major?

UC’s are very GPA focused but you have great test scores. Spend time on your essays to help differentiate yourself from the rest of very qualified applicants. Add UCR and UCSC to list since UC admissions have been brutal this year and many applicants with similar stats were either rejected or waitlisted from these schools.

Freshman 2017 admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 (capped weighted) and not major specific:

UCB: 12.6%
UCLA: 11.7%
UCSD: 38.7%
UCSB: 53.6%
UCD: 56.5%
UCI: 52.1%
UCSC: 75.7%
UCR: 90.1%
UCM: 96.1%

25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCB: 1280-1490

UCLA: 1280-1500
UCSD: 1250-1470
UCSB: 1210- 1450
UCD: 1190-1430
UCI: 1190-1420
UCSC: 1170-1380
UCR: 1090-1310
UCM: 1020-1230

25th - 75th percentiles for ACT:
UCB: 30-34
UCLA: 30-34
UCSD: 29-34
UCSB: 28-33
UCD: 26-32
UCI: 26-32
UCSC: 26-31
UCR: 23-30
UCM: 20-27

@Gumbymom thanks so much!!

What chances would I have at any other top private universities, in and out of state?

You are a competitive applicant. While your GPA is low, your SAT score is great. Your ECs are good as well. Get straight As for your senior year and write amazing essays

FYI: UC’s do not consider Senior year grades in their admission decisions.

@Gumbymom but do they count CC courses taken during the summer in between junior and senior year?

Yes, they would count any a-g courses taken the summer prior to Senior year.
