I know my chances aren’t great and I’ve already applied but I was wondering what everyone else would think about these stats-
gender: female (if this is necessary to know?)
APs: ap human geography (3), ap english lang (3), ap english lit, ap statistics, ap environmental science
senior schedule: ap english lit, ap statistics, ap environmental science, american government/economics honors, yearbook honors, and digital design honors
uf recalculated GPA: 4.1386 ish
class rank: 85/517, top 16% ish
sat: 1350 (690 reading, 660 math)
i thought my essay was okay, I had a bad freshman year so i tried to include that in my app
my ECs are decent-
i’m one of the editors for the yearbook and i’ve had a leadership position in yearbook for the past 3 years
i’m a member of national honor society and science national honor society
i’m an officer in french honor society (historian)
i played soccer for my high school freshman and sophomore year- also included in app
i’ve won multiple state-level awards for yearbook (FSPA) - these were included in my app
i have around 120 hours of community service that were included in my app and I also will qualify for FAS bright futures
I am a Florida resident, in the central FL area.
I know i’m in the bottom 25% for GPA because the GPA middle 50% at uf is like 4.3-4.6 and I’m like exactly at the 50th percentile in test scores so I already know my chances are pretty low… but I kind of wanted someone else’s opinion?? Let me know
I think you have a good chance of getting in your SAT is good and you are involved in school. I am also wanting to go to UF and worried that I won’t get in.
Like you said before, your GPA is a bit low for UF, but everything else seems to be acceptable and up to snuff, so to speak. I would say a low match, but UF’s admissions are notoriously esoteric, so anything can happen.
I appreciate the honest opinion @r2v2018
I like your chances. Your involvement with the yearbook is nice considering that it’s won awards. You might want to play that up. You could writie a “page-turning” essay about it. Just playing with an idea here. Your UF essay obviously can’t include graphics of any kind. Yet you have this strong experience as yearbook editor. (award-winning yearbook editor!) Tell them it would be natural for you to tell your story in a photo essay, but it’s impossible to do that in a college essay format. So, “picture me beginning my ninth grade year…” Describe yourself as a young immature freshman, so much that you didn’t know yet, but with a few hopes and dreams. Now, “Picture me as a senior…” Describe where you are now in comparison.
Finally, END your essay with, “I’d love for my NEXT important picture to be as a freshman at the University of Florida.”
Good luck!
