EC's :

Member of County Student Leadership Team- It is a big deal, very prestigious.. We meet with the area superintendents, prominent businessmen, professional speakers, etc...

Three Summers of Leadership Traning with Student Leadership University- Have been to Orlando, Washington D.C., London, Paris, Normandy, Oxford for training. Had the opportunity to hear lectures from prominent senators, congressmen, civil activists, members from the house of lords.. VERY AWESOME experiences with this organization!!

UGA Honors is really my top choice, and I would love to be a part of Foundation Fellows. I know my SAT's aren't there yet, but I feel like my grades/course load/Ec's are on par.. I've looked at the first year profile for FF and I know that is just the average SAT, so with my EC's what SAT score do you think I really need to shoot for? M & CR Scores??
Thanks for the help, any advice is greatly appreciated!
I will chance back if you provide link to your post!! thanks

My D was recently offered the FF- and will more than likely accept : ) I think the mean SAT at the recent FF weekend was about 1573 (CR/M) though I am not sure they have released the scores of the students that were actually offered the FF.

You sound like you have all the credentials that UGA is looking for. Though I would try to raise your SAT scores maybe by 100 points.

FYI my D’s stats:
2290 SAT
35 ACT
6 AP’s ( all 5) with 7 more in her senior year
valedictorian/ star student

EC’s - debate, girl scouts, NHS ( president), SGA, various honor soc, marching band , swim team.

Seems like many of the students at the interview weekend were Val/ Sal at their high school and/ or Star student. Though D did say that some of the kids she met had SAT scored well below the average. I was very impressed with all the 2015 Ramseys , they seemed like a nice group of kids.

I noticed you have posted on several other college sites… as for Jefferson scholar at UVA that is a tough one to get. D was a semi finalist but never got passed the interview stage in Atlanta. She also did not get invited to the scholars weekend at UNC ( Chapel Hill) Emory gave her the Liberal Arts scholarship. She also got the pres scholar at GT.

You are well ahead of the game already thinking about these scholarships!

Good Luck!

Gibson- I don’t know much about Star student, but isn’t that awarded to the person that has the highest SAT scores? Did your D get Star Student with a 2290? And one other thing (if you don’t mind, of course), what do you think that UGA looks at most for the FF? Thanks!

@JonDrums, when you apply to UGA and subsequently Honors next year, can you be sure to post your results on this forum? I would really like to know your decision and if you got admitted, etc.

If you got your SAT score up I would say you’ve got a pretty good shot. I was accepted to the Honors Program with a 32 ACT, 760 MATH II, 3.9 GPA, and good extra curriculars. I would try and at least get a 2100 on the SAT when you take it again, and I would definitely recommend taking the ACT. It is MUCH easier in my opinion.

@3coolcats: How many APs did you take? And how much foreign language? I’ve only taken up to Spanish 3, and idk if that is enough for Honors… I’ve heard they “love” foreign language

To make it to Ramsey/FF, its almost a crapshoot for almost everyone, unless u get IMO medals or somehing. There are usually 800+ applicants, and all of whom are top notch with over 1400+ (which is the req to apply). Most who made it to the interview have either done something awesome, many were accepted to HYP, on the other hand, many got extremely lucky, like me :P. Apply, wish for the best, and move on.
