I'm applying RD for Journalism to UGA. I am out of state. I know the journalism school is pretty prestigious (or so I have heard) but I think I would be a great fit. I have a 3.7 weighted GPA, 3.01 unweighted. I've taken 4 AP's (AB Calc, US History, Environmental science, and Biology. I've taken 12 honors courses. I go to an extremely competitive public high school. I had a great junior year, better than any of my other years, in which I got a 4.2 GPA. I've been strong in all my classes pertaining to English and journalism, and really, the only ones pulling me down were my early math classes. My SAT is 1630, (writing was again my strong point here), and my ACT was a 24. I plan on taking a lot of time to write proper essays. As for EC's, I've been involved with my church all through my high school career, and I've volunteered a decent amount with my church also. I was also in FBLA, and I competed a bit there and also volunteered for a few local events. I volunteered at some school sponsored events also. All together, I would say these add up to roughly 20-30 hours of volunteering.

For what it's worth, parchment.com says I have a 53% chance of admission, but I don't know how accurate that is.

I also think my GPA according to UGA would be somewhere in between my UW and my Weighted. Perhaps in the 3.5 range.

If there is any other info you would like to know, just ask. Thanks!
