Have you checked out the University of Illinois admissions site?

It shows that for the class of 2008, the middle 50% of accepted students had ACT scores of 28-32, and the average SAT scores were 1860-2080; and that the average class rank was above the 91st percentile of the high school class–I can’t tell where your gpa places you in comparison to your class.

It would seem to me that U of I business would be a reach for you, because your gpa is not likely in the top 10% of your class, and your SAT score places you at the low end of the middle 50% of admitted students–not high enough to counterbalance the gpa problem.

I’m not sure how your out of state status will play. And I do not know if they admissions office considers AP scores.

Have you met the curriculum distribution requirements for the business school?

your SAT is fine, its aveage. your GPA might be a problem. but even though uiuc is a good school, it actually isn’t hard to get into (60-70% acceptance rate i think), so you’ll be fine. I got into business and my ACT score was 29 and my class rank is top20%

It might be a stretch, they might admit you to a different college such as DGS. You just have to prove yourself again Freshman year and apply for Intercollege Transfer

Acceptance rate is irrelevant. It’s totally dependent on the applicant pool. If a much larger percentage of applicants with low and/or borderline statistics submitted applications, the acceptance rate would be much lower. The word is out, and most who apply know that if your stats aren’t there you won’t get admitted. Those who draw the conclusion that because 7 out of 10 applicants get accepted, so the odds are in their favor, are one of the 30% who get rejected if their GPA, HSPR, ACT/SAT and course rigor don’t meet the very high admission standards.

In short, if you get accepted, you’ve earned it. I wasn’t due to a roll of a ten-sided die where a 1-7 came up.
