I've attended a selective math and science magnet school along with my regular school since the 9th grade for half a day every school day. All courses at the magnet school are considered more rigorous than AP/IB/honors. My EC's kinda suck, but I have been a part of several programming competitions, and have taken 3 years of CS (I'm majoring in CS BTW) courses. I also dual enrolled at a local community college to take a foreign language Jr and Sr year.

I'm not a great writer, but both of my essays will be related to my CS major plans. Not sure if this will help me, but the website made it sound like it would lol.

Also, I'm submitting my application tomorrow (October 8th). If I missed anything, please let me know! Thanks so much!

Decent chance, rank is a little low (middle 50% range is top 8% to top 2%) ACT is in range although in lower part of that 50% range particularly for CS. OOS are evaluated on same basis as in-state but CS usually has a high applicant pool. Point out nature of school in essay. Also mention foreign laguage at college (why? because that is likely to meet any college level language requirements for the college and it is plus for them to see you have completed that).

^ Ok thank you! I checked my class rank, and it’s actually really close to the top 5% (not quite though). I’ve also had an upward trend in grades which will help I hope. The thing is, only 2 seniors from my regular school attend the science/math magnet (me and another dude) so our GPA was lowered a bit compared to others. I’ll send em both HS profiles, and transcripts from both HS and the college so they’ll see all of my classes.

One thing about UI is that they don’t require counsler rec or teachers rec ( which is great for such a great university), also the university did mention anyone who sends the recs they will not be reviewed and be discarded. So yeah, I wouldn’t suggest putting effort to getting a rec in.

I actually just applied to the school 2 days ago, trying to meet the Nov 1st deadline.

Oh yeah your chances…

I think you have a good chance, but considering that its the engineering school it’s difficult to say.
