I plan to go for early decision for UMass Amherst.

anyone? please?

No one???

Not to be rude…

But realistically no, both are very competitive schools. I am looking at a school similar to Amherst and my 3.85 GPA and projected 2000-2100 are on the low end. Your grades and SAT’s are too low for a top 20 school, which makes me believe your rank is too low as well. Your EC’s are OK, but not so special to compensate for the GPA and SAT scores. What safeties are you looking at?

He said UMass Amherst not Amherst College

I am talking about University of Massachusetts Amherst. anyone else?

Sorry, I thought you meant UMass or Amherst, sorry.

bump…anyone else please?

UMass-Amherst is probably a reach for you. Are you in state? That might help. Your EC’s are great, but your GPA and SAT scores are a bit low for Umass-Amherst. Early decision + a killer essay would give you a fair shot but there are no guarantees. Do you have any safeties? I would recommend looking at U-mass-boston,u-mass-dartmouth, and u-mass lowell. You have a great shot at those three schools, and you could always transfer to amherst.

I think ED and a killer essay will help but right now your about in the 1st percentile of all applying students using the calculator from **************.com . If your instate that will definetely help but theres not really much to do right now apart from focusing on your essay and trying to improve your SAT (or ACT scores) i suggest you start looking at past UMass essays and writing rough drafts for them and also most importantly start practicing your butt off for the SAT or ACT(whichever one you decide to take). Thats really all the advice i can give you because right now your chances are very slim. Good luck to you!
