recs: 3 teacher recommendations + 1 from counselor, very strong i would say. got one from my IB math teacher, AP Comp Science teacher and History teacher.
essays: my English teacher said it was strong..hopefully UMD agrees. Spent days reviewing+editing it and making sure I got others to read them.

My dad also graduated from UMD. Will that increase my chances?

Good news and bad news…

Bad news first: being a “legacy” doesn’t mean squat for UMD, from what I was told.

Good news: you are well-qualified on your own merit!!!

While no one can say with absolute certainty because the school is the only one with that authority, I personally think you will not only be admitted, but you have a very strong chance of being a direct admit to engineering as well. All your stats (that count) are right where they should be. GPA and CR+M are the only numbers they look at.

Don’t worry about government and stat being 3s, because they don’t go into the equation for admission. AP’s only count toward college credits that may or may not count for your major or other gen ed requirements for graduation. Stat AP only counts toward Stat100 credit, which doesn’t get you out of the required 300 level engineering stat class, so no loss.

I also think you stand a good chance of being invited to honors college or college park scholars.

IMO you’re in! 1350 combined M + CR is great, plus you’re from an IB program & you live in Maryland. Sounds wonderful…good luck!

You should get admitted into the University. The engineering program is hard to get directly admitted to though. Good luck!

You are in and will be Honors or Scholars.
