Chance Me for UMD-CP

Hi! I submitted my UMD application a few weeks ago, but I can’t stop thinking about it. What are my chances of getting in even though I’m out-of-state and Asian? I really want to go. It’s my top choice, and I would absolutely be crushed if I didn’t get in. Do you think I could get into the Honors College or get any merit?

Obviously you know that you have a very competitive profile. Shouldn’t be a problem. Any merit aid at UMD is very, very rare. There’s not much of them going around considering that they’re a state school with primary objective to serve their residents. Maryland is great though. My son is an out of state junior there now. Engineering.

Why is this school your first choice? You are pretty much guaranteed to get in with the stats like those and a solid application. In fact, you could definitely get into a better school with those stats (not saying UMD is a bad school or anything).

In fact, UMD is a very good school. Best of lucks to you, anyways :slight_smile:

It’s not my number one top choice, but I have a few schools that are on par with it. I have a dream school, but it’s so hard to get into, that it’d be a blessed miracle if I got in.

I did get in

You should receive B/K invite.

@terranmn I didn’t. Refer to my thread about how I didn’t get the invite and was really upset haha. I’m okay though, now.

Good luck & best wishes!

My D similar stats, IS. Very disappointed not been invited.

According to your user ID, I realized that we have one more thing in common, sigh …

Anyway, she won’t go anywhere else as long as Honors College & ACES LLC.

@terranmn

Did your daughter get ACES? I really hope she did!

Yes, she did. Thanks!
She also got Presidential Scholarship. We’ll accept this offer.
