Hello friends!
It appears that I'm going to have to go to UMD for cost issues (I am in state). All the other colleges I have been looking at have been crazy expensive private schools, and the fact is my family just can't afford it. UMD is a very good school, so I'm just going to safe my family the debt and go there. However, it is EXTREMELY different from the other colleges I have been looking at, especially in terms of size. I think the honors program would be good for me so I can at least get somewhat of a small college feel, at least within the honors community. I don't know if this is important, but I plan on being a history major.

SAT: 2160 (680 CR, 730 M, 750 W)- I do plan on taking it again to raise my critical reading score
GPA: 3.95 unweighted, 4.5 weighted
APs: World-5, US History-5, Calc ABBC- double 5s, Psych-5, and this year I'm taking Latin and Euro
I am also doing a program at a local college (Hood College) where I take college courses and so far have gotten all A's

Extracurricular:
member of latin club all 4 years
member of drama club for 3 years and involved in tech for my school's shows
Vice president and then President of National Social Studies Honor Society 2 yrs (we basically do charity fundraisers)
NHS 2 years
secretary of political awareness club
guitar and piano lessons for about 3 years- unfortunately I had to quit because of price :(
volunteer at local animal shelter for 3 years
cross country freshman yr (during which I quickly discovered I was not a running- or generally moving at all- type of girl)
I also have a part time job at Noodles and Co.
--I'm afraid that EC's will be my weakest point because there just aren't many affordable opportunities where I am that aren't sports, but I plan on doing a lot of volunteering my senior year now that I have my license!

Essays: hopefully very good, usually I am a really good writer

recommendations: VERY good- I have a lot of teacher friends :)

Thank you all so much, I would really appreciate your answers and any input about the honors college
