If you’re really into minecraft, starcraft and gaming, UNC might not be the best fit. I don’t think there’s much of that here. I have no idea what your chances are but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Tell me about the volunteering in 3rd world countries. Was this something that you were invited to? Or did you have to pay your own way?

UMich: high match
UNC: match
Duke: high reach
Dartmouth: high reach
BC: high match

Be careful, I see a scenario where you get rejected from all of these. Make sure to apply to some safeties.
Tbh: I don’t understand the 100 point GPA system very well though…

I don’t know the 100 point GPA system well but I think your a shoe-in for one of UMich or BC. The other 3 are much harder to get into but from an inital glance I do think that you have a chances at all of these. Note that UNC’s out of state acceptance rate is 15%, so UNC out of state is almost just as hard to get into as Duke or Dartmouth. This is caused by UNC having to take at least 80% of students from in-state.

LOL I don’t plan to game in college. Haha they’re just little achievements I threw in there for activities I do on the side. I’m a big party kind of guy

Both. I had to be trained in a 6 month program to be able to go. Then I had to pay to go on the trips and fundraised.

your hooks aren’t hooks those are just strengths… hooks are more like something that you were just born with like URM low income legacy first gen stuff like that

I got into Duke with 32 (33 superscore) so your stats there look nice! UNC is a really good match but I live in North Carolina so I might be a little bias lol  anyway your GPA is not bad but your AP scores and BioM SAT II are a little weak. Your EC’s, however, are outstanding. I really think if you play up those as your strengths you have an amazing shot. Always, place a lot of emphasis on your recs and essays which can really shine your unique personality and mindset. Overall, Duke is a reach and Dartmouth is a high reach. I think UMich, UNC, BC are good choices. Great choices! You’re going to be fine!

If your intended major is biology, you may want to consider UC system school, such as UCB, UCLA, UCSD. You can also consider U Chicago since they have EDII this year.

@gapehorn Oh, okay haha. Lmk if you have any questions about UNC

Update: 0/3 so far
Cornell-reject
Neu-Defer
Umich-defer
Should I start to worry or stay optimistic :,(

A bit surprising that you got deferred from UMichigan, although the other two are understandable.

Cornell data: https://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/admissions.cornell.edu/files/Class%20Profile%202020.pdf
UNC data: http://admissions.unc.edu/apply/class-profile-2/
UMich data: https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/student-profile

I don’t think you can get into Duke and Dartmouth.
Maybe deferred for BC.

Do you not have any safety? If that’s the case, you better apply to safeties for RD, or you might regret really much.

Lol minecraft server will step up your game

I am applying to some safeties for RD. Also hoping that I can get into these schools in the spring. Do I have no shot at Dartmouth or Duke at all?

Apply to Wisconsin Madison (very similar to Michigan - many students like it better!), also would apply to 2 other safeties. your list makes me nervous

Thanks, I’ll take Wisconsin Madison into consideration! I’m also applying to UConn and Stony Brook for safeties, I just didn’t list them in my thread title

Wisconsin Madison is great school. The campus size and setting is very to Umich but the OOS admission rate is much higher. UMich is hard to be a match from OOS due to the near 20% admission rate. For LSA, UMich would be a very high match to low reach for you,
