Chance me for UMichigan Ann Arbor and UC schools?

So I have 4 years of math, science, foreign language, English, & social studies classes, all at honors levels if not APs. AP's in gov, macroeconomics, Spanish culture and lang, Spanish literature, junior and senior English, art (twice), environmental science, human geography, us history with 4s and 5s on all AP exams. Upwards of 180 community service hours. EC's include student council for four years, debate for one, softball for one (I got injured and could no longer play), a religious group outside of school for one. I've taken all art classes my school has to offer as well. In terms of grades my weighted GPA is a 3.7 (and will probably increase to no more than 3.9) but my weighted is 3.2 due to a really bad freshman year. My grades show a really strong upward trend, getting rid of all C's by junior year and getting more and more A's. My ACT is a 30 but I've only taken it once and plan to take it a few more times and take some prep classes too. I'm really concerned about my few EC's and my unweighted GPA as I know University of Michigan and the UC schools (specifically LA and Berkeley) are really prestigious. Do you think I have a shot at getting in? And any thoughts on last minute things (I have one year until I apply) I can do to help my chances? Thanks!

Do you mean your uwGPA is 3.2?
If that is the case, UMich would be a reach for you disregarding your test scores. Your ACT is at the 25th percentile and it would not help.
For UCs, try to recalculate your UC GPA. It will look a lot better as they do not count freshmen grades and add weight to AP classes.

Yep, that’s what I meant, sorry. Weighted is 3.7, UW is 3.2. That’s awesome about the UC GPA, I just calculated and mine is a 3.8. I’m also refusing to stop taking the ACT until I get at least a 33 which shouldn’t be totally impossible since I took the last one without any preparation, so hopefully that will help. Thank you for replying!

Yes, the UC GPA is going to be higher than the unweighted GPA, but that is the case for everyone. Your UC GPA is low relative to many other UC Applicants.

^ It depends on which UC. The average admission GPA for UCLA is 4.39 this year. UCSB is 4.03. UCSC is 3.82,

Was thinking UCLA, maybe UCSB. Thanks!

Natalie: Are you in-state for UC? UCLA and Berkeley will be a reach.

@gberrios27 Start your own thread. Do not steal others. It will be very confusing.

Out of state. Yeah I think so too haha thank you!
