Hi, I’m out of state and am so nervous about getting in. I’m currently a freshman at my state school. My college gpa (One semester) is a 3.51. I know I can do better and will definitely do better this spring semester, but it won’t be considered for admissions right?
My gpa in high school was a 4.0 weighted, 39/475 class ranking top 10%
ACT score was a 34
EC’s and essay I’d say decent
I got one letter of rec from my scholars professor (I’m in the university of scholars program at my current school)
What would you guys say my chances are? Am I hurt by being Outside of state? I’m from NY btw.
Any opinions? I also added the University of Texas at Austin
You’ll get in to UNC I’m pretty sure. Out of state is not factored into admissions decisions are your ACT score is much higher than average transfer acceptances for UNC. Also your HS GPA is really good and your state school GPA is a bit low but I think you have a strong chance. I’m also applying to transfer next week to UNC so good luck!
Some schools ask for a transfer mid-term report to see how your spring semester is progressing
Are you positive you’re allowed to apply as a transfer student? Some schools have minimum semester unit requirements and 1 semester will not meet them.
Phil
of course you can apply after one semester. it happens all the time…
Yes, I’m quite sure you can. At least I hope so! @philbegas
Your high school credentials would have made you an excellent candidate for both, but your college GPA may be a problem. You can transfer after one semester, but if you’re hoping to pull your GPA up substantially, it may be worth it to wait a little longer and transfer the next year instead.
@thetransfercoach Thank you for your feedback. What would you say my chances are specifically for UNC? I decided to only apply there
