Chance me for UNC CH

hey guys! UNC is my dream school and I’ve wanted to go there all my life, let me know what you guys think my chances are!

Applying early action

Sex: M/Race: Hispanic/state: FL/ intended major: industrial/organizational psychology

GPA: UW- somewhere around a 3.6/3.7 ish, W- somewhere around a 3.9 or 4.0+
ACT: 26(31 E 27 M 27 R 19 S) retaking it cause I completely bombed the science and actually found the test really hard
I attend a competitive private school, it doesn’t offer many APs and a lot of kids don’t really take honors

I started one of my essays and from what I’ve heard it’s really strong but I’m hoping to improve it

Honors freshman year- none(long story), sophomore year- none, junior year- 2(USH, Eng III) we can only take 4 honors classes per year, disregarding senior year

Senior year course load-

Competitive jump rope(10 years), junior Olympic champion and national champion(for the past 5 years). Placed 3rd in the world for team USA at a competition in Hong Kong. Was also chosen as the flag bearer. Traveling to Sweden in the summer of 2016 for another world championship tournament with team USA.
I’m on the national competitor advisory board and have broken/set multiple regional records and am aiming my way to a junior Olympic record.

Also forgot to include that I speak Spanish, if that makes any difference at all

You’re OOS. OOS students typically need higher stats to get admitted. Chances don’t look good.

As a public flagship university in an increasingly-diverse state, UNC doesn’t need to worry about diversity too much in admissions. It also has a very hostile, conservative state government to deal with, and so they probably won’t make many accommodations for URMs from out-of-state, and it would be a reach for you if you were a NC resident. I do not think your chances are good at all, I’m sorry to say. Out-of-state applicants need outstanding grades and test scores to get into UNC-CH.

NC has a go hard cap of 18% OOS students- including recruited athletes.
The acceptance rate for OOS students is also 18%, v 53% for instate (average = 29%).
The middle 50% of all enrolling students is 28-33 on the ACT.

What is it in particular that you love about UNCCH? there might be other options that would be more realistic.

This is a very high reach as an out of state applicant. Dont be discouraged however there are many schools out there similar to UNC chapel hill that will accept you. Mind you I think you should still apply because anything can happen! They might love your application! Just have some other schools as match schools and safeties as well that you would be equally happy going to.

It will be a reach. Better ACT or SAT would obviously help.
