Chance me for UNC Chapel Hill (Will chance back!)

Hi guys, I'm in my first year at a CC right now here in NC and I'm looking to transfer into Carolina's JOMC program. I went to a high school here in NC that was very competitive. Basically, you could call it a "feeder" HS for UNC. While in HS, I had a 3.5w/3.0 uw, 1680 SAT (writing was my highest score, good for a J-School student!). The main thing that brought my GPA down was math classes, which don't even pertain to my major. My main EC's all revolved around my church. Anyway, here is my profile so far at my CC:

I've already completed one short session class, I received an A, so I have a 4.0 so far. My professor for that class attended UNC, and has a Ph.D in communication, and she liked me (and no I'm not just saying that), so I could get a LoR from her. I also have another professor that attended UNC for undergrad that I could ask for a LoR as well, and I have an A in her class too. I have A's in all my other classes so far, and I fully intend on doing everything I can to finish this semester and spring semester with a 4.0.

Might seem obvious, but I plan on spending a lot of time on my "why transfer" essay, as I believe I have a very compelling reason specific to my major, and I will be able to explain how Carolina fits me perfectly in my essay.

As for other things I have going for me:
- I plan on joining and being as active as possible in PTK
- I am a writer for bleacher report (an online sports news/opinion website that is increasing in popularity, and receives promotions on TNT (TV channel)
- I work a part time job and by the time I apply I will have worked there 7 months, and there is a good possibility I will get promoted by that time. (Also possible LoR from boss)
- I'm still active with my church
- I have a few clubs from HS to list and hopefully I'll find more in my CC that interest me.
- Took foreign language all four years of HS, (and 8th grade which I received HS credit for)

I understand this was more of a hypothetical 'chance me', but I can assure you I will do everything I can to maintain that 4.0. Anyways, with all of these given things, even though my HS record wasn't great, do you think I have a chance? Is it at least worth applying?

Thank you!

totally worth applying! you seem really cool and I wish you much luck  keep on spending time on the essay

overnight bump

If you can maintain you 4.0, participate in the community, and gather those LoR, you should have a good chance of transferring. Good luck! Chance me back?

Bump

And just to be clear I’m asking to be chanced for fall 2014, after two semesters at my CC, so I’ll have two semesters of 4.0. Will UNC ask for spring grades? Could I send them in?

Overnight bump.

4.0 is amazing. keep up what you’re doing and I think you’ll have a very good chance.
