Location: Florida
Major: Business but not a 4-year business school at UNC. So I would have to apply once I am into the school and attending it.

GPA: 3.75 Unweighted/4.27 Weighted (9-11th grade)(Midterm Senior Year Grades are basically the same)

SAT:
CR: 610
M: 710
W: 690

SAT IIs:
Math I: 750
Math II: 740

Rank: School does not rank

ECs:
I'm not going to list everything. But I have many leadership experiences (leading a walk for my school, HOBY), lots of community service (helping out underprivileged people, community service programs at my school), 2 athletic teams (cross country 1 year, basketball 2 years), and the clubs like everyone else.

Job Experience:
1 year working at a summer camp
1 year so far working at a law firm as a file clerk

Essays:
Essays were great and I applied to the business school at most schools and wrote about in one of my essays how I created my own business a year ago.

If some people could take 2 minutes and actually read what I wrote and chance me honestly, I would be happy to do the same. Thanks again. And for me to chance you back, you can add your link to the chance thread here, or I will just find your chance thread.

i would say 50/50, just because unc oos is crazy. your sats are probably a little low for oos (your sat 2s are good), but creating your business is definitely an awesome thing, and makes you stand out to the admissions committee. unc oos doesn’t really have a formula because it’s so difficult, but i would say you have an okay chance. if you took a lot of hard classes/aps and got good grades in them that would help a lot too.

Don’t think your chances are that good. I’d guess 20% chance or so. If it makes you feel any better, I’m 34 ACT/770MATHII, 750BIO and not confident about this at all.

Creating your own business will look good, thats a very unique thing. Will look good with your other leadership experiences. but the weighted GPA might be a little too low for OOS at UNC. Its really unfortunate for OOS students, cause even though your unweighted is higher than mine [weighted is almost exactly the same], i might have a better chance than you just because i’m in state. Although my SAT I’s are higher than yours. So I’d say 30%

You say my weighted GPA is a little low (4.27) but what is the average weighted gpa for an accepted student. In 9th grade, I struggled a little and got a B, 2 B+'s and the rest A’s and in 10th grade I had all A’s and 1 B+, and in 11th grade all A’s. Maybe they will see an upward trend.

this shows how inaccurate people’s chances can be on college confidential…there is no way at all the weighted gpa for unc chapel hill could be 4.75…do you know how ridiculously high that is on a 5 point scale…where 5s can only be earned with A’s in all AP classes…that number is way off…unc is not at that gpa caliber and i highly doubt even harvard has an average that high

^ Here is the link explaining the NC Department of Public Instruction’s GPA weighting policy. I would use the augmented scale to calculate GPA, since that is what many NC public schools are transitioning too, but there has been some dispute on whether UNC uses the augmented or standard scales.
