Hi all! University of North Florida is my top school and I’m wondering what my chances of getting in would look like.
I’m from out of state (Massachusetts) and am currently taking a gap year as a result of unforeseeable circumstances in my personal life. I’m an asian female from a middle class family. I graduated from high school in June 2021 and have been working at a grocery store this year instead of attending school.
I applied to UNF as a Nutrition & Dietetics major (concentration in community nutrition and food).
My GPA is 3.30 (weighted, my school doesn’t offer unweighted). My SAT is 1230 (610 math, 620 english). My school also doesn’t rank.
I feel good about my SAT scores, but I’m worried about my GPA and transcript. I’ve gotten mostly A’s and B’s throughout high school, but do have 3 C’s in total. I have one D+ as well, from French class first semester of senior year. I’m very worried about the D+ ruining my chances of getting into any colleges.
I took one AP class in high school (AP Government) senior year. I got an A- first semester and B+ second semester.
Second semester of junior year, I had the best grades of my life (all A’s, 3.9 GPA for the semester), but my school moved to pass or fail and didn’t end up counting those grades as a result of covid-related school closures. I explained this in my common app. My overall GPA would’ve been significantly higher if these grades were counted.
I’m a 12 season varsity athlete (cross country, indoor track, outdoor track) and will be attempting to walk onto the team at UNF if I’m accepted.
I worked a part time job (grocery store cashier) junior and senior year, and have 48 hours of volunteering under my belt.
Thank you so much for reading, any insight is appreciated!
