Chance me for university of chicago

Hey,

New to this forum. Just wanted to know my chances for the University of Chicago.

My schools GPA scale is out of 5.5 and I currently have around a 4.8 (which will increase over the next two years). I'm a sophomore and I've taken all honors classes when available. I dropped AP euro, but will be taking AP US history next year. I will also be doubling up on science next year and will be taking AP chem next year. I currently have one of the top 3 averages in my grade in honors chemistry, the highest level of science I'm allowed to take. I got into upperclassmen only College Credit Accounting, and currently have one of the 2 highest averages. I was one of 2 students selected from both classes to compete at the LIBEC competition in march.

Freshman years grades:
Math 9H - A
HBio - B+
English S1 - A
English S2 - B+
Global - A+
Latin - A
Art - A+
Health - A+

This years grades:
Math 10H - A
HChem - A+
English S1 - A+
English S2 - A
AP Euro - Had a B+, then dropped and now A+ in Global
College Credit Accounting - A+
WW2 History - A
Latin - A+

Extracurriculars:
Autistic basketball every saturday
Key club (community service club)
Debate team (very good debater)
Latin club treasurer (will be officer and run club next year)
Student council member (elected by student body)
Started a political discussion club

Won numerous national latin exam awards

HOOKS:
Mother and father went to university of chicago
Father donates every year, has a scholarship in his name
Father's best friend and practically my uncle is on the Board of Trustees, has donated TONS of money, and loves me to death. Is going to put in a very good and urgent word for me.

Expect to get a 33 on the ACT.

PLEASE CHANCE ME

You withdrew from AP Euro because you were scared to take a B+? That looks really bad, and it shows that you care about grades rather than learning.

If the University of Chicago can see that you dropped it (and your initial grade), I think it will be more detrimental than you getting a C in AP European History.

You have also listed too many extra-curricular activities, and it looks phony. There is no way that you actively participate in all of those–you would need three clones. This tells me that you join a bunch of groups to stuff your application–which is another thing that looks bad.

Sometimes, like in my school, there may be a cutoff score for getting into a next year AP. Such as if I want to get into APUSH for next year, I must have a 90, or an A- at least. So that B+ AP drop could have been because of a score cutoff.

I didn’t drop because I was scared to take a B+, I dropped because I knew I couldn’t keep that up at all. I hated the class and sort of had to ride my classmates and use a bunch of booster easy grades to get the B+. I got a 68 on a test and dropped immediately without it being recorded. Also, I know I should trim down my EC’s and sort of concentrate my focus on the ones I care about.

U Chicago: Reach (poor EC management hurting you)

Catria, how are they poorly managed?

Still, take the ones you’re most involved in.
