I'm white and male and live in California.

My EC's are I do a mentor program where I do activities with a special needs child and I am in a community service group that cleans up the school and volunteers at various places. It's called Fusion if any other school has this program.

UF: Aim for 29+/2000+ (with that score you should be good for some UCs as well)

I feel like I can get that. I’m really good at those type of tests.

By the end of your junior year, you will want an UF weighted GPA in the 4.1 to 4.4 range (UF gives +0.5 for honor classes, and +1.0 points for AP/DE/IB/AICE classes). The 3 AP classes in your junior year will help. UF doesn’t take into account your senior year classes for GPA (though they do want to see that you’re taking rigorous classes). So it’s important to drive some of those classes up to A’s (like your pre calc honor class) this semester and to keep your grades high through your junior year.

UF does take into account the courses available at your high school, when determining your GPA…so if you’re in the top 10% (as an OOS), you’re likely fine with a GPA that’s less than 4.1. However, if you fall out of that top 10% range (about 77% of the current class of Freshman are in the top 10% of class range), and don’t have a GPA in the 4.1-4.4 range (that’s the middle 50% for the current class of freshman), your chances do drop.

Of course, all of the things you do to get into UF, also help you when it’s time to apply to the UC’s!

Good Luck!

Thanks, so that means UF will weight ALL of my honors classes? Because the only honors class my school has weighted is Honors Pre Calc, because it’s harder than a lot of AP Classes. I’m not sure what my class % is I will have to check. I really want to go to UF because I love Florida, have family there and really like the college. UC school’s would probably be my 2nd choice, like UC Riverside.

Yes, so you should be fine. Just do somewhat well on the SAT or ACT, and you’ll be in. Since UF isn’t incredibly competitive, their admissions decisions tend to be very predictable except for a few small exceptions (i.e. Came off as arrogant).

RHSclassof16, as long as your school is flagging those classes as “honor”(or some such thing), on your transcripts, you should be fine.

Middle 50% of the 2013 Freshman Class

High School GPA of 4.1 - 4.4
SAT of 1780-2020
ACT of 26 - 31
