Just found out about the extension of the Benacquisto scholarship to OOS students and UF is now one of my top choice schools! Please let me know my chances!

Your chances are very strong. My son got in OOS with a 4.37 weight gpa, 1350 SAT and 31 ACT.

You will get in, but really concentrate on a PERSONAL essay that shows who you are

With a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 35 ACT & 1550 SAT, 800s on SAT subject tests & 5s on AP tests, the more appropriate question is what to expect in the way of merit money/academic scholarships.

We are in the same boat! Benacquisto is an amazing option and I cannot wait to apply to UF
As another rising senior, just wondering what other colleges you are looking at @ripasians2023 ?

@swimmerfish The main colleges on my list are UF, Rice, Duke, SMU, Vanderbilt, UMiami, FSU, TCU, Baylor, USC, and UCF!

@ripasians2023 Awesome! Seems like you really want some warmer weather, haha!

I got in for Fall with a 4.4+ UF GPA at the time of application and 20 AP/dual enrollment classes, but I only had a 1300 on my SATs. I had taken many unweighted classes in my first two years of high school due to scheduling errors and problems with obtaining teacher recommendations, which bottlenecked my GPA somewhat. In terms of extracurriculars, I had one leadership position and very few CS hours (at the time of application).

I think you have a very strong chance of getting in.

You will get money from UF and UCF, for sure. UF you should get accepted but do write a special essay. Look to really understand how to get money.

get a letter of rec from a teacher junior or senior year closer to application time, unless you end up interacting frequently with the teachers you listed (e.g. they supervise an activity you’re in or something.) i also suggest a strong personal essay. you have a well-rounded application and good stats, though.

UF will not take letters of recommendation. Perhaps other schools to which you are applying will.
