Extra Curriclars/ Community service.
4 year varsity basketball player. I was named team captain for junior and senior year.
3 year varsity cross-country runner.
National Honor Society in my junior and senior year
For community service, I do math tutoring at a nearby elementary school every week and I clean the road that my school is on. If you add up my community service hours it’s 200+
My recommendation letters and essays are very good. I have had a lot of fantastic resources around me that helped me write the best essays I could write.
I plan to study economics and therefore apply to LSA.
Being a two-sport varsity athlete and having very good extracurriculars plus stellar letters of rec will help offset you’re relatively low SAT (very good, just average for a place like Michigan looking generally for 1480+ for EA). GPA unweighted is right on par. Good luck for both you and I! I am applying and have a 1540 SAT and 3.96 weighted but not two sport varsity like you do.
Yea I’m really hoping that the admissions officials at Michigan and all the other schools I’m applying to really take into account that I was a varsity athlete for 2 sports. @howdy99 your sat score is fantastic. I wish I could’ve gotten a score like that. I wish you good luck to the rest of your application process(es)
