Chance me for University of Michigan

I would love to attend University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)

Future Major: Business

High School:** Stuyvesant High School/b

Here's where I really need help.
My GPA for all 3 years is a 89.5 or 3.45.
But, if you take out Freshmen year, my average becomes a ** 92, or 3.7. **

**GPAs are unweighted! School does not weight GPAs.*

I'm wondering how significantly my GPA will harm me.

Rank: School does not rank

SAT Scores (Oct, March, May):
CR 740 - 660 - 750
Math 690 - 770 - 800
Writing 620 - 710 - 650
Total 2040 - 2140 - 2200

Extra Curriculars:
- Junior State of America - Current Vice President **of Local Chapter, is a national organization where kids meet up to participate in alternative debate styles.
- **Stock Market Club
- Kids meet up to trade and compete in a stock market challenge
- Free Hugs Club - A service club that raises over $1500 a year for St. Judes.
- Project Asta - A high school mentorship program, that assigns kids up with other kids around the city, the program lasts for 1 year each session.
- Around 3/4 other misc.

Volunteer Hours
- 300 Volunteer hours at a Prep School place, letter was written as an internship.
- 100 Hours volunteer at my school library

APs: 2 Current APs - Chem & US History Expecting 4+ on Both

Next Year Schedule:
- AP Calculus
- AP Macro (Fall), AP Micro (Spring)
- Wall Street (A class on finance and well, the nuances of Wall Street)
- AP Gov (Fall), AP Comp Gov (Spring)

Special?
- *Legacy Status *- My Sister is currently attending.
- *Virtual Stock Portfolio *- Kept a journal and reason behind each and every single stock trade I made for a year now

Everyone keeps on assuring me that I will get into Michigan next year but I would like an honest unbiased opinion on how likely I will be able to get into Michigan as my GPA is not above a 3.6 when 85% of its current students have a 3.6 GPA or higher.

I currently fall above the Middle 50th Percentile in terms of SAT:
50th - 1940–2190 (2200)
CR - 620–730 (750)
Math - 660–770 (800)
Writing - 630–730 (650)

I screwed up pretty badly Freshmen year, with an 82 and 83 GPA for the first two terms, but quickly rebounded with a 91.5 and 94.5 the successive terms, my GPA has an increasing trend, and I think I have a pretty good resume in terms of volunteer hours and Extra Curriculars, but my GPA is something that has been haunting me.

I'm especially worried because Michigan is going Common App next year, which will lead to more people applying.

Please note! THIS IS A MICHIGAN EARLY ADMISSION CHANCE! NOT ROSS!

If anyone knows of any other schools they think I should apply to, free free to post them as well!

But if you are applying for business, you are applying for Ross? Unless your planning on an internal transfer.

But your chances really depend right now on your in-state/OOState status. If you are instate, you have a much higher chance of getting in, but out of state, not so much, just because the GPA hasn’t broke the 3.6+ range.

UMich actually doesn’t recalculate GPA anymore, sadly, I know, so your freshman year is STILL calculated along with your overall GPA.

You have a decent chance though.

I’m not too sure about the common app, but if they still have the essays, which I’m assuming they do, then be sure to write about your deep passion for business. I know a kid who really wasn’t incredibly smart. I mean he pulled off decent grades in regular classes, and the occasional honors class. But the kid was crazy about business. Constantly doing trades within the market, watching the market channel, and becoming a nationally known member for FBLA and DECA. He got into Wharton (Penn).

Just take some APs (easy ones, if you must) to get your GPA up as high as you possibly can.

I got my 3.2 freshman year all the way up to a 3.9 this year (end of senior year) by stockpiling on APs and honors when I can.

Thanks for your comments.

I am applying for Ross, but I know that I do not have the slightest chance of getting into Ross Pre-Admit.

I am planning to do an internal transfer.

My GC’s recommendation later is filled with notes about my passion for business as well so I have that base covered as well.

I’m taking several AP classes next year, but my school does not weigh GPA’s at all.

Unfortunately, I’m an OOS student.

Bump + New Info?

Would a first gen student help my chance also?

As well as coming from a low income family?
